Job Purpose:
We are seeking dynamic and results-driven Field Sales Manager (FSM) to oversee and manage the performance of the Field Sales Team. Reporting to the Account Managers, the FSM will be responsible for driving sales execution, ensuring alignment with our client’s commercial strategy, and optimising team performance. This role involves coaching and mentoring the sales team, implementing sales strategies, and ensuring excellence in execution to achieve and exceed performance targets.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in fostering a high-performing sales culture, ensuring the team meets volume, distribution, and promotional goals, while maintaining alignment with budgetary and operational requirements.
Responsibilities:
Drive the execution of our clients sales and distribution strategies within designated territories, ensuring alignment with overall account objectives.
Collaborate with the management team to translate high-level commercial strategies into actionable field sales plans.
Optimise sales routes and journey plans to maximise coverage and productivity, ensuring alignment with client priorities.
Lead, coach, and develop a team of Field Sales Representatives to achieve and exceed sales targets, focusing on individual and team performance and to conduct regular one-on-one and team meetings to review performance, provide feedback, and establish action plans for continuous improvement.
Develop and deliver tailored induction and ongoing training programmes to upskill team members
Monitor and evaluate team performance against KPIs, including volume, distribution, planogram compliance, and promotional execution.
Analyse sales data and provide actionable insights to the team, ensuring transparency in performance expectations and results and to identify performance gaps and implement corrective measures to address underperformance in collaboration with the management team.
Act as the primary point of contact for trade-related issues within assigned territories, resolving challenges in a timely and professional manner.
Ensure compliance with all operational guidelines, including trade visit standards, reporting protocols, and Point-of-Sale (POS) management.
Monitor the use and distribution of POS materials, ensuring efficient allocation to maximise brand visibility.
Required Knowledge & Experience:
Proven experience in a sales management role, preferably in the FMCG industry or a similar fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated track record of leading and developing high-performing teams to achieve or exceed sales targets.
Full, clean driving license with a willingness to travel extensively within designated territories.
Flexibility to work irregular hours as required by the needs of the business.
Exceptional leadership and team-building abilities, with the capacity to motivate and inspire teams to deliver results.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of interpreting sales data and translating insights into actionable plans.
Experience working directly with/for an FMCG brand, with a strong understanding of the sector’s dynamics. (Preferred)
Familiarity with CRM or sales tracking tools to monitor team performance and generate actionable insights. (Preferred)
A degree or formal qualification in business, marketing, or a related field. (Preferred)
