We are looking for a Certification Officer to join the Certification team.
The department is responsible for certifying products to the requirements of the European Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Marine Equipment (MED) Directives.
Reporting to the General Manager duties will include:
Client liaison with manufacturers from all parts of the world
Processing manufacturer’s technical files against standard checklists
Evaluation of simple and complex products against standard and/or requirements to determine compliance
Evaluating test reports and drafting evaluation reports
Handling enquiries and development of quotations
Drafting type-examination certificates and preparing relevant documentation for review and/or certification
decision
Performing technical reviews and providing certification decisions of PPE
Potentially auditing if the candidate has appropriate qualifications and experience
RequirementsEssential Key skills:
Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant to textiles or a technical/scientific subject.
Familiarity and understanding of the use of standards associated with specification, performance and design of the
products submitted for certification to the Directives.
Ability to assess manufacturer’s data for compliance to the Directives.
Ability to work individually or as part of the team, under own initiative.
Ability to communicate with clients at all levels is key demonstrating excellent customer service.
Desirable Key skills:
Experience of certification activities (e.g. ISO 17065 or notified body work).
Experience of laboratory testing (i.e. ISO 17025).
An understanding of certification processes
An understanding of testing related to certification activities.
Experience or qualification as an auditor (e.g. ISO9000 or notified body or other schemes).
Knowledge of the use or manufacture of PPE.
Knowledge of the Construction Products Directive.

Full training will be provided in Manchester which will involve several intensive 2-week stays in the UK. Travel to and from
Ireland will be provided with weekend trips home and the successful candidate will be supported by the UK teams.
