Telephone Triage Nurse - Blended
Reporting to:
Clinical Nurse Lead/ Clinical Quality & Nurse Manager
Contract:
Permanent (after completion of successful probationary period).
Flexibility required.
19 hour contracts available; working shift rotas: evening, overnight, weekend and public holidays.
Locations:
Central Call Centre, St. Camillus Hospital, Limerick city with a blended approach working from Home.

Telephone Triage Nurse responsibilities include:
- Interacting with patients over the phone, the nurse will use clinical software together with professional judgement and training to assess patient symptoms.
- Practice in accordance with and have a good working knowledge of all ShannonDoc policies, procedures, and guidelines. Maintain nursing records and documentation to a high standard.
- Provide treatment, advice, or direction, based on the protocols, guidelines, and clinical software provided by the company.
- Liaise with all other members of the multidisciplinary team when required.
- Ascertain the urgency of the patient’s medical need at the time of the call and direct them to the most suitable level of medical care (GP, ED, ambulance, Nurse advice).
- Maintain patient safety.
- Provide nursing care in accordance with NMBI Code of Professional Conduct and scope of practice framework.
- Engage in continuous professional development.
Essential Requirements
· NMBI Registered General Nurse (RGN) with 3 years post registration experience.
· Clinical Knowledge with a broad range of experience to support the ability to clinical assess patients over the phone and support independent clinical decision making.
· Recent experience and or qualification in at least one of the following disciplines :
- Accident and Emergency
- Paediatrics
- Practice Nursing
- Obstetrics
- Mental Health
Qualifications/Skills:
- Basic IT skills required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, desirable.
- Excellent Communication Skills inclusive of written and verbal communication.
- Proactive with good initiative.
- Friendly, courteous and professional manner.
- Professional Phone etiquette.
- Strong Organisational skills and efficient time management.
- Maintain the organisation’s strict code of confidentiality in all dealings
- Ability to work as part of a team and or own initiative .
Extensive Training Programme will be provided to acquire & enhance skills outlined below
Initial training will be required on site in Shannondoc Call Centre, Limerick
