Discover Impactful Work:

As a Materials Science intern, you will function as a member of the Process Development Services team. You will be responsible for providing general technical support to the Materials Science laboratory / team learning to use modern testing instrumentation.

What will you do?

• Learn how to use physical properties testing instrumentation such as x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, thermal analysis, optical microscopy. Test samples using these instruments.
• Assist the team with lab maintenance such as organising storage of chemicals, updating chemical databases, completing risk assessments, maintenance and calibration of equipment, great housekeeping.
• Provide material science support to transfers of manufacturing process in to/out of Cork site.
• Take ownership for the design, interpretation and reporting of non-routine material characterisation data strategies to the team and other key stakeholders
• providing updates on progress, hosting clients visits, addressing technical queries and delivering client project requirements
• Participate in Risk Assessment processes for changes related to API processes affecting particle properties
• Work with due care and attention, perform all duties in a compliant manner whilst acting always in accordance with the Dignity at Work Policy, Code Ethics and of Business Conduct and the 4i values of Integrity, Intensity, Innovation and Involvement.
• Promote good laboratory practices, including reviewing housekeeping / audits and ensuring corrective actions are completed.
• Maintain Electronic Laboratory Notebook in compliance with GMP requirements.

How will you get here?

Undergraduate student pursuing a BSc or Masters in pharmaceutical materials science, pharmacy, chemistry or other related degree.

Native (or proficient) in English.

Excellent interpersonal skills and strong professional presence.

Be able to demonstrate Materials Science approach to problem solving.
