No Sponsorship. Open Door is currently seeking a Network Engineer in our Tarrytown site. The Network Engineer will be involved in all aspects of the IT infrastructure operations.
As a team member, they will support highly complex systems including the overall administration, security, availability of Open Door, and its affiliates, and network infrastructure. The individual will provide inputs to the strategy, design, and troubleshooting of technology-related challenges. The ideal candidate will be able to deploy, configure, maintain, and monitor all active network equipment to ensure smooth network operations, a secure environment, and enhanced performance.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Respond to and resolve incidents and service requests within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Monitor network performance, diagnose faults, and provide comprehensive resolutions.
- Manage and support Cisco and Fortinet platforms, ensuring optimal configuration and system updates.
- Perform proactive system maintenance to ensure information is current and accurate.
- Update the ticketing system with detailed, quality documentation.
- Administer and configure network infrastructure to meet business needs.
- Coordinate, test, and implement new applications and technologies through various projects and initiatives.
- Collect, analyze, and correlate relevant information related to Cisco and Fortinet systems for troubleshooting and reporting.
- Prepare root cause analysis reports to identify recurring issues and prevent future incidents.
- Create and maintain installation and troubleshooting documentation as needed.
- Review, maintain, and update network diagrams to ensure accurate documentation of end-to-end paths.
- Perform routine system administration and maintenance tasks at local and remote locations with minimal business impact.
- Participate in support and on-call rotations, including incident management.
- Maintain up-to-date asset management and inventory records.
- Ensure the network adheres to best practice security standards and policies.
- Travel to remote sites for installations, troubleshooting, and repairs.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
Experience and Skills:
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar Network Engineer role.
- Strong working knowledge of LAN/WAN and data networks.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco and Fortinet platforms, including configuration and troubleshooting.
- Cisco certification is required.
- ITIL Certification is a plus.
- Experience with network design and maintenance in cloud environments (Azure preferred).
- Solid understanding of voice and network system requirements and standards.
- Knowledge of data network technologies, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Proficiency in network protocols such as TCP/IP, IP subnetting, VLANs, Ethernet, DHCP, DNS, QoS, SIP, and H.323.
- Experience creating, re-routing, and maintaining VPN tunnels.
- Proven experience working in a multi-site environment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Expertise in VLANs, spanning tree protocols, and routing protocols.
- Familiarity with IP protocols (IPv4 addressing, UDP, TCP, DNS, DHCP) for issue troubleshooting.
- Experience with network monitoring applications.
- Proficient with ASA and FortiGate firewalls, including configuration and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Next-Generation Firewall concepts, including inspection and policy creation.
- Strong understanding of dynamic routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, OMP).
- Familiarity with advanced routing concepts such as routing table optimization, path selection, and SLAs.
- SD-WAN experience is required.
- Knowledge of Layer 2 switching, including Spanning Tree, Port Channels, and Trunking.
- Experience with redundant site-to-site VPN design and migration of VPN tunnels.
- Wireless network experience is required.
- Familiarity with backup and recovery software and methodologies.
- Visio experience is a plus.
