Open Door is currently seeking a Site Medical Director in our Sleepy Hollow medical center. The Site Medical Director has overall responsibility for providing and ensuring quality medical care to patients at medical site including the direct management and supervision of site medical clinicians. Recognizing the need to balance the needs of the Residents and the patients in need of care, as an Open Door leader, seeks to promote Open Door's patient-centered values and strategies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide excellent quality of care to all patients directly treated
- Lead and manage the activities of the site’s medical clinicians to ensure that the quality and appropriateness of clinical services meets or exceeds patient needs
- Model, lead and manage practice workflow among the site medical clinicians to improve patient perception and satisfaction with care provided at the site
- Work with Chief Medical Officer and individual clinicians to regularly analyze data dashboards and improve programs and quality of care when warranted
- Strive to increase the number of new patients utilizing Open Door Family Medical Centers and regularly communicate with site clinicians regarding this initiative
- Oversee clinical effectiveness of site clinicians and work with individual clinician to improve effectiveness as warranted
- Ensure documentation of health care is maintained in a confidential manner and is clinically appropriate
- Manage the training and onboarding process of new clinicians at the site, including the development of 30-60-90-day goals
- Lead the quality review of care within the site
- Assist the Program Director with day-to-day operations of the Family Medicine Residency Program
- Aid in critical evaluations of the clinical and teaching effectiveness of the Family Medicine faculty and administrative team
- Assist with implementation and coordination of the residency training program according to appropriate guidelines such as the ACGME and the Residency Review Committee (RRC)
- Attend and actively participate in leadership meetings with Northwell Department of Family Medicine, Northwell Office of Academic Affairs, Open Door leadership teams, and Phelps leadership teams
- Ensure adequate physician, resident and other provider supervision of the outpatient teaching services
- Assist in the evaluation of resident and faculty applicants to the Family Medicine Residency Program
- Assist with short and long-term planning for the Family Medicine Residency and Family Practice Centers
- Lead and coordinate key areas of curriculum and residency operation (examples of which may include Orientation, Recruitment, Block Schedule, Clinical Competency Committee, Program Evaluation Committee, etc.)
- Engage in professional development through self-directed continuing education and encourage/promote professional development of the site’s clinicians
- Act as an advocate for the site, encouraging and facilitating community involvement in the activities of the site, and assist the community in achieving a realistic understanding of the site’s capabilities and services
- Participate in the activities of the local health care community and seek out opportunities for integrating other health programs into the services of the site
- Participate in cost containment decisions that affect medical care
- Act in a collaborative manner with Open Door’s other Site Medical Directors
- Participate in the site budget process to assure the availability of funds for medical functions.
- Participate in year-end performance review program to include performance assessment of site medical clinicians and the development of annual performance goals
- In collaboration with Human Resources and the Chief Medical Officer, responsible for hiring and terminating site medical clinicians, as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Medical Doctorate degree (MD or DO) from approved medical school with residency training and active board certification per specialty
- Licensed to practice medicine in New York State
- Master’s degree in Public Health, Master’s degree in Business Administration, or similar advanced degree preferred
- Minimum of five years of experience as a physician
- Minimum of three years managerial experience in ambulatory care
- Excellent clinical skills
- Experience precepting/teaching residents and/or medical students
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent patient rapport
- Knowledge of current medical practices and procedures
- Leadership ability and experience within the medical community
- Interest in employment in a Community Health Center setting and in Public Health
