Job Title: Field Technician – Solar Operations

About the Role
We're looking for a hard working Field Technician, ideally with a background as a solar installer/electrician or service technician. If you’re comfortable getting on roofs, navigating attic spaces, and can handle everything from site surveys to service calls without batting an eye, this might be your next job.
This isn’t a sit-behind-a-desk kind of gig—we’re talking boots on the ground (or on the roof), solving problems, making sure jobs are ready and up to code.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform pre-installation site surveys for residential solar projects, including structural and electrical evaluations.
- Serve as an inspection tech, doing pre-inspection checks; checking the job diagram, stickers/placards, opening up panels. Troubleshooting simple issues.
- Handle service cases in the field; commissioning systems, replacing breakers, replacing microinverters, missing photos, wire management, voltage testing, cutting rail, etc.
- Access rooftops safely and efficiently to perform surveys and service cases.
- Navigate attic spaces for site evaluation, and occasionally wiring runs and conduit pulls.
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to the project management team via company software.
- Maintain accurate documentation via mobile apps or paper, depending on the task.
- Represent the company professionally and respectfully with homeowners, inspectors, and other trades.
Qualifications
- Comfortable working on ladders, roofs, and in attic spaces
- Willing and able to drive long distances occasionally for jobs (up to 6 hours total drive time— typically once or twice per week)
- Ideally located near Peoria, IL or willing to relocate (Chicago area also acceptable)
- Tech-savvy and confident using smartphones and apps for uploading photos, logging notes, and navigating job management tools
- Able and willing to fly a drone (training provided if needed)
- Comfortable performing or being trained to perform basic electrical tasks and service cases
- Optional, but a plus:Open to further training and development for more advanced electrical and solar service work
- Strong communication skills and comfortable interacting with customers on-site.
