Shop Assistant

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Shop Helper to join our powder coating team. The Shop Helper will assist with various tasks related to powder coating, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the production process. This role involves a range of duties, including preparing materials, maintaining the shop environment, and supporting the production team in coating and finishing products to meet quality standards.

Duties

• Material Preparation: Assist in preparing metal parts for powder coating, including cleaning, and masking components to ensure proper coating adhesion.
• Loading and Unloading: Load and unload items from the powder coating booths and ovens, ensuring correct handling and safety procedures are followed.
• Equipment Maintenance: Support the maintenance and cleaning of powder coating equipment, booths, ovens, and other tools to ensure proper functioning.
• Inventory Management: Assist with organizing and maintaining inventory of materials, such as powder coating powders, masking materials, and other supplies.
• Shop Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including sweeping floors, removing waste, and ensuring all areas are safe and well-kept.
• Quality Control Support: Assist in the inspection of coated parts for defects, ensuring that the final product meets the company’s quality standards.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and report any unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members and supervisors to ensure deadlines and production goals are met efficiently.

Skills

• Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing or powder coating environment is a plus, but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy items (min of 50lbs) and stand for extended periods.
• Attention to Detail: Strong focus on quality and the ability to follow instructions carefully.
• Communication: Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with team members and supervisors.
• Safety Awareness: Knowledge of and ability to adhere to safety protocols, particularly in a production or shop setting.
• Teamwork: A team-oriented attitude and willingness to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to work in a high-temperature environment and wear protective gear, such as gloves, safety glasses, and respirators.
• Flexibility to work in shifts or overtime as required by production needs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
