GNSS Test Engineer (San Jose Area)
BTI is looking for a GNSS Software Validation Field Test Engineer for primarily sports activity testing and support drive testing as a backup to work under the supervision of the Test Manager. The ideal candidate should be experienced in GNSS testing for mobile devices and wearables, capable of working with cross-functional teams, and able to support various test requests in parallel. The position is based in San Jose, CA, with field testing responsibilities across the San Jose and San Francisco areas.
Responsibilities and duties:
- Able to support sports activity tests [walking, running, biking and hiking by themselves all days of the week at different sites around SJ and SF with a 10 pound backpack IMU setup].
- Capable of driving company vehicle on a need basis during the week or during weekend.
- Assist with bring-up, testing, root causing HW/SW issues and sanity testing/verification of multiple devices before field tests.
- Support Applanix IMU truth processing and validation with smoothing of trajectory with Novatel Post-processing tools with PPP/RTK.
- Analyze collected data with initial checking of test data validity before sending to development teams and prepare reports.
- Support R&D activities with coming up with new user test scenarios mimicking user scenarios for Location performance improvements and support on-demand customer issue reproduction of various features under test with quality test scenarios.
- Provide on-site support with customer domestically in the US for field testing and
- Support with capturing and validation of RF recording with Spirent GSS6450 and Labsat equipment’s with Sports activity tests.
- Supporting Python based automation for process improvements in device setting and logging capabilities with multiple devices in the field.
- Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team player and able to receive and document provided instruction for reference.
- Ability to multi-task effectively under considerable pressure of deadlines and easily adapt within a fast-paced environment.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills.
- Follow all the company policies and procedures to ensure product integrity and good quality.
Qualifications:
- BS in Engineering, Computer Science or related fields
- 2 years of Field test experience in mobile and wearable device testing and ability to support customers on-site domestically.
- Familiarity with processing IMU using Applanix and Novatel OEM systems and experience with RF captures in the Field using Spirent or Lab sat equipment
- Capable of prioritizing tasks to meet goals and ensure quality in Test support deliverables.
- Willing to meet on-call support requests, as needed.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
Pay Range: $35/hr ~ $50/hr
