Job Description The Investment Operations Manager contributes to and enhances the capabilities of the Investment Office team for the development and implementation of various operations and portfolio administration projects. Experience 5 to 10 years investment operations experience Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in business administration (MBA) and/or advanced degree in economics, finance, or accounting Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), or Certified Public Accountant certification or in process Investment management operations experience at an Endowment, Foundation, Pension, Family Office, Investment Consultant, Custodian Bank, Prime Broker, or Accounting Firm Education Bachelor's degree finance, accounting, business, economics, or related field Certification Summary No professional certifications required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Experience with risk analytics, performance measurement, investment accounting and financial reporting activities at a large allocator Previous track record developing integrated portfolio analytics models and systems to deliver data for Investment Office decision making Reconciliation experience navigating daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and performance for a large, global, multi-asset class portfolio Experience managing liquidity of an investment portfolio primarily invested in alternative assets Experience building and maintaining monthly performance reports enabling the Investment Office to monitor portfolio performance Experience with document management (CRM) and portfolio management systems Job Responsibilities Investment Operations Assist with portfolio operations responsibilities of global, multi-asset class portfolio. Engage with service providers including custodian, outside counsel, investment consultant, performance system vendor, CRM vendor, and others as needed. Responsible for supervision of all portfolio activity including accounting, investment valuation, capital calls, distribution activity, and account set up and termination. Responsible for supervision of legal activities including review of legal documents by external legal team, including subscription documents, redemption documents, fund consent requests, storage of legal documents and other requested materials. Partner with Director of Investment Operations to facilitate portfolio compliance and execute operational policies and procedures. Evaluate use cases for additional service providers and complete continued evaluation of current service providers as the Investment Office seeks providers that fit within cost-conscious operating model. Contribute to onboarding and implementation of Investment Office external service providers as needed. Build a comprehensive understanding of the investment industry by participating in events (e.g. conferences). Operational Due Diligence Supervise external vendors performing operational due diligence, evaluate their work and report to Director of Investment Operations and Investment team. Assist with implementation of compliance program, assessment of service providers, management of IT environment, and cybersecurity concerns. Performance Measurement Manage the performance reporting lifecycle with Children’s external service providers to ensure timeliness and accuracy of reported data. Troubleshoot and evolve the process for capturing and communicating performance data as needed. Build a comprehensive understanding of the investment industry by participating in events (e.g. conferences). Work with Director of Investment Analytics to improve framework used by Children’s performance providers. Data Management Document and execute the process for monthly data maintenance, tracking and updating of investment manager data, data sources used, and steps taken. Review received performance data, reconcile with performance software and external consultant. Supervise data entry, execution of data processes, and the maintenance of systems used to track performance, cash flows, exposures, and investment documentation. Assist with operations and administration tasks as needed. Establish relationships and collaborate with various teams including Legal, Accounting, Finance and Strategy. Assist with the training and development of junior team members when appropriate.
