Job Description The Process Improvement Intern will contribute to Clinical Process Improvement’s mission of assisting the organization in answering three fundamental questions of quality improvement: − What are we trying to accomplish? − How will we know a change is an improvement? − What changes can we make that will result in an improvement? Project/position description: The Process Improvement intern will both learn and provide support to Quality Improvement Specialists in: Facilitating quality improvement Coach/guide improvement teams to use the Model for Improvement Use common tools to help teams achieve aims (Process mapping, Key Driver Diagrams, PDSA, etc) Developing and delivering education to build capability Model for Improvement Data trending over time Statistical process control Supporting process and outcome measure development Measurement planning and statistical analysis Clinical data reporting HAC (Hospital Acquired Conditions) Statistical Process Control Qualifications: Progression toward an undergraduate or graduate degree in Industrial Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related technical degree is preferred Strong work ethic and demonstrated initiative Strong writing, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills Solid process, analytical, problem solving and time management skills Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Experience with QI Macros, SPSS, Minitab, R, JMP or related statistical package is preferred Education College or graduate student that is currently working towards a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Business, Marketing, Healthcare Administration or other related field Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Organized, detail oriented; Able to prioritize time sensitive assignments Creative and flexible; Able to adapt to change Self-starter; Able to make decisions independently Strong verbal and written communication skills; Strong interpersonal and presentation skills Able to work well with diverse groups, comfortable interacting with all levels Able to represent Children’s in a mature and professional manner Willing to work long hours that could include evenings and weekends, if applicable to internship Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Outlook) or other applications as required Able to travel throughout expanded metro Atlanta area; Must provide reliable transportation, if applicable to internship Job Responsibilities Develops and implements projects as assigned, which could include events, activities, programs, or research studies. Creates and carries out a cohesive plan for each assigned project. Establishes and maintains contact with all appropriate individuals to ensure that the plan is implemented in the best interest of the organization. Executes administrative and operational tasks for assigned projects. Supports and participates in the continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of services provided and projects produced. Understands and complies with infection control, safety, and OSHA procedures and regulations, while meeting all in-service requirements as outlined per policy.
