Position Summary: The Contracts Technician performs work with the purpose of supporting the preparation of bids and contract management for surface and intermodal transportation with U.S. government agencies and commercial shippers. The Contracts Technician is a progressive position that prepares documents in response to requests for proposals, contract modifications, and close-out activities under the direction of the Manager, Transportation Contracts.

Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (in office/ onsite)
Responsibilities:
- Conduct market-based benchmarking analysis to prepare proposal documents and recommend pricing for contract awards.
- Conduct research to support negotiations of claims, manage contractual changes, and aid in the resolution of conflicts or disputes with customers.
- Research regulations to guarantee contracts are updated and in compliance with laws and regulations.
- Monitor and report key performance indicators to ensure compliance with contractual expectations.
- Recommend process and technological improvements.
- Independently prepare documentation, reports, charts, graphs, and spreadsheets at designated intervals and as requested.
- Maintain electronic and hard copy files and databases. Maintain integrity of information.
- May be required to provide functional training or mentoring at management discretion.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (CT1):
- Knowledge of postal, federal, or commercial purchasing regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of data analysis tools and techniques to interpret data and make recommendations based on results.
- Knowledge of planning techniques to demonstrate the ability to complete projects within established timelines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft products and experience with database programs or CRM software
- 0-2 years of experience in a paid or volunteer position that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, or experience that translates direction to the functional job responsibilities.
Qualifications (CT2):
- Knowledge of postal, federal, or commercial purchasing regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to perform summary or statistical analysis on data, to interpret and report results, and make recommendations based on results.
- Ability to complete projects within established timelines and report results.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft products and experience with database programs or CRM software
- 2-4 years of progressive experience in similar roles OR Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields, or similar: supply chain management, accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, economics, logistics, or organization and management.
Qualifications (CT3):
- Knowledge of postal, federal, or commercial purchasing regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of quality principles and continuous improvement tools to include benchmarking techniques and practices.
- Ability to perform summary or statistical analysis on data, to interpret and report results, and make recommendations based on results.
- Ability to develop project plans and timelines, recommend resource requirements, monitoring progress, and report results.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft products and experience with database programs or CRM software
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in similar roles OR 2-4 years of progressive experience in similar roles AND Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields, or similar: supply chain management, accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, economics, logistics, organization and management.
