Position Summary: The EHS Manager is responsible for overseeing the environmental, health, and safety functions at the manufacturing location. This role ensures compliance with environmental and safety regulations, promotes a culture of safety and health improvement, and supports the well-being of team members. The EHS Manager collaborates with plant leadership and Home Office management to implement effective EHS programs and initiatives. Duties / Responsibilities:
Environmental
Maintain all recordkeeping and conduct activities necessary for environmental compliance (e.g., material usage, storm water, air permitting).
Collaborate with environmental consultants during scheduled visits and complete required training.
Lead ISO certification and surveillance efforts, including EHS Committee and Objectives and Targets Team Meetings.
Act as the EHS Coordinator and perform their duties when necessary.
Health
Promote team health initiatives in collaboration with the Home Office wellness team and facility TMX coordinator to encourage good eating habits, physical fitness, and mental health.
Set a positive example by continuously improving personal wellness.
Safety / Workers’ Compensation
Conduct thorough injury investigations and complete Injury and Illness reports with the injured team member and relevant supervisors.
Ensure post-accident drug screens are completed as required.
Conduct post-accident corrective actions and root cause analysis reports.
Submit First Report of Injury to Broadspire within 24 hours of an accident.
Administer the workers’ compensation program, including case management and communication with team members and facility management.
Act as a liaison for workers’ compensation and participate in biannual claim reviews.
Maintain OSHA 300 and 300A Log recordkeeping.
Administer the Return-to-Work program, including transitional duty programs.
Report monthly safety statistics to the facility leadership and Home Office Regional/ Director.
Coordinate and participate in safety committee functions, including monthly meetings, inspections and follow ups.
Conduct regular safety meetings with area coordinators and team members to review near misses and injuries and identify preventive measures.
Perform weekly facility hazard walks and recommend corrective or preventive measures.
Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and regulations, as well as Home Office and facility SOPs and policies.
Administer the Hearing Conservation Program and conduct annual Job Hazard Analysis.
Ensure First Responders are trained and certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED.
Maintain the SDS program and ensure all SDS for chemicals used at the facility are up to date.
Training
Develop and conduct required safety training programs, including general awareness, licensing, certifications, and SOP training.
Ensure SiteDocs is utilized for documentation and recordkeeping.
Follow standardized training templates.
Conduct effective New Hire Orientation safety training.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (4 years) in Environmental Studies or related field.
3-5 years of related experience.
Bilingual Spanish-speaking is preferred, but not required.
General understanding and knowledge of federal, state, local, and company regulations and standards applicable to environmental protection agency (EPA) and occupational health and safety (OSHA) practices and programs, state workers’ compensation programs, and ISO program familiarity.
Experience in safety culture and industrial environment strongly preferred.
Great people/leadership skills required.
Excellent presentation skills required.
Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint Skills.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Work may require stooping, bending, crouching, crawling, pushing, and / or pulling.
Must be able to communicate with others via phone, email, and in person. Must be able to exchange accurate information with others.
Work environment is not temperature controlled and may result in exposure to extreme temperatures.
Work primarily involves sitting / standing, up to 4 hours at a time.
