Phlebotomist

Position Summary: The Phlebotomist will obtain and prepare specimens for analysis and perform various screening tests. QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School diploma preferred. Experience/Qualifications: Experience working in the clinical setting, preferred License/Certification: Certified Phlebotomy Technician: CPT by National Healthcareer Association – (NHA) required, OR Phlebotomy Technician: PBT by American Society for Clinical Pathology – (ASCP) required, OR Registered Phlebotomy Technician: RPT by American Medical Technologists – (AMT) required, OR National Certified Phlebotomy Technician: NCPT by National Center for Competency Testing – (NCCT) required, OR Certified Phlebotomy Technician: CPT by American Certification Agency – (ACA) required Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required to be initially completed with the TH Staff Development Office within 30 calendar days of hire date (exceptions to obtain certification from a provider other than the TH Staff Development Office are approved by Staff development on a case-by-case basis). BLS Recertification is required every two years. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Strong customer service skills Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) Interpersonal skills and compassion Analyzing information, critical thinking, and problem solving Knowledge of infection control procedures Bedside manner Attention to detail Procedural and organizational skills Quality focus Basic computer skills Physical Requirements: Light Physical Agility Test (PAT) Rating While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; frequently to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert up to 15 pounds of force occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
