Accountabilities 

Reporting directly to the Senior Director, the Global Medical Director will reinforce strategic planning and leadership for hematology, nephrology, and transplant indications, leveraging our expanding pipeline. The role supports our mission by integrating scientific and medical insights with a profound understanding of the global landscape. You will drive the Alexion Global Medical Affairs mission to optimize patient outcomes by setting and advancing the evidence-based standard of care. 

Your Responsibilities 

  • Strategic Leadership: Represent the Global Medical Affairs team at Global Program Teams (GPTs), guiding cross-functional groups with medical expertise. 

  • Plan Development: Collaborate on developing global and regional strategic and tactical medical plans that align with brand objectives, including budget planning. 

  • Medical Excellence: Provide medical leadership and strategic direction for the global medical therapeutic area activities, pre-launch and post-launch, ensuring effective cross-functional collaboration. 

  • Clinical Development: Lead the design and execution of late-stage Phase 3b/4 clinical studies, registries, and outcomes research for pipeline and in-line programs. 

  • Partnership and Communication: Foster strategic relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), medical societies, and academic centers to align global KOL engagement strategies and medical advisory boards. 

  • Evidence Generation: Oversee real-world evidence (RWE) generation strategies in alignment with therapeutic area initiatives. 

  • Medical Review: Provide oversight and guidance for medical reviews related to clinical study proposals, field medical materials, and regulatory documents. 

Essential Skills/Experience 

  • Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD). 

  • 3 years in a Medical Affairs function, preferably with experience in hematology, nephrology, or transplant. 

  • Demonstrated ability to strategically drive cross-functional initiatives and build effective partnerships. 

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. 

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. 

  • Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely, on-target delivery. 

  • Ethical mindset with a commitment to impactful work. 

  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment. 

  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
