What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Business Affairs Manager position at 1000heads?
At 1000heads, creativity moves at the speed of social, and so do we! We’re looking for a Business Affairs Manager who can keep up with the pace—helping our teams bring big ideas to life while ensuring everything is legally buttoned-up. From influencer campaigns to branded content, talent deals to on-site production, you’ll be the go-to expert for making sure our work is clear for takeoff. If you’re a contract-savvy, detail-obsessed, creative-minded problem solver, this role is for you.
RESPONSIBILITIES
You’ll be the behind-the-scenes hero ensuring our campaigns and productions run smoothly. Here’s how:
- Partner with cross-agency teams to review creative materials at all stages, ensuring compliance with talent, third-party rights, copyright, trademark, publicity rights, and advertising regulations.
- Manage third-party rights and clearance for music, talent, and intellectual property.
- Perform preliminary trademark searches and collaborate with internal/external counsel on IP matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate agreements for vendors, talent, creators, music, footage, artwork, and other third-party rights.
- Review and edit client Statements of Work (SOWs) to ensure deliverables, assumptions, staff plans, and legal considerations are covered. Ensure vendor policies and agreements align with client SOWs and MSAs.
- Advise on production guidelines, best practices, and risk assessments. Help navigate tricky legal waters while keeping creativity flowing.
- Work with producers to review bidding documents, finalize client estimates, and issue award documents, including vendor agreements, insurance, and licensing.
- Participate in project scoping discussions to ensure legal and financial considerations are factored in.
- Provide accurate talent and music cost estimates, including session fees, licensing, usage, and residuals.
- Advise and educate teams on SAG-AFTRA, AFM, and non-union agreements, including waivers, regulations, and best practices.
- Support agency teams in making smart, strategic decisions that protect creative ideas while ensuring compliance.
- This is a hybrid role, with 2 days per week in office required. You must reside in one of our US office locations: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, or Miami.
- 5 years of experience in advertising business affairs.
- Familiarity with SAG-AFTRA is a plus.
- Strong contract negotiation and administration skills.
- Understanding of intellectual property in digital marketing.
- Confidence to lead projects and make smart, strategic decisions.
- A sharp eye for detail and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- A love for creativity and a passion for helping teams produce their best work.
- Medical, dental, vision, and more!
- Generous time off package, including the last week of the year
- 401k & Roth retirement investment options with employer match after one year
- Gym and professional development stipends
- Culture Club with monthly activities like sports, games, and happy hours
