ABOUT THE POSITION
The Facilities Management organization provides services aligned with the maintenance and enhancement of Columbia Sportswear Company’s world headquarters. Services span space planning and campus maintenance to conference facilitation, shipping, and document services. The Shipping Specialist III will provide shipping and receiving support for all employees located at Columbia Sportswear headquarters to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient delivery of all goods. In this role you will also maintain positive open lines of communication with all Columbia Sportswear management and staff from all internal departments and outside suppliers in order to contribute to the smooth flow of information and efficient operation of the organization. You will follow established departmental procedures and duties with minimal direction. You will assist in training and providing support to others but will not have supervisory responsibilities.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Receive materials and other goods including ensuring items are received and distributed quickly and accurately. File claims for incomplete or damaged freight with liable carriers. Require all packages to be logged in, to include all HQ campus buildings; documents to be filed for tracking, billing and archiving purposes.
Provide shipment and mail deliveries to various headquarter locations. Maintain company vehicle including filling gas tank, keeping vehicle clean, performing weekly vehicle inspections and reporting any needed repairs.
Package, palletize and shrink wrap standard and non-standard shipments using carrier guidelines to ensure materials deliver intact to the final destination.
Process all outgoing packages and shipments using preferred carriers and local couriers. Determine the best method for shipping by considering location, time in transit, weight, size and cost, and provide required information for airway bills and bill of ladings. Prepare and audit commercial invoices for international shipments and consult with the internal Customs and Logistics department to verify accuracy on all documents when needed. File Certificate of Origins and EEI electronic declarations through carrier software. Track and fully resolve undelivered inbound and outbound shipments.
Ensure compliance with lithium battery shipping regulations are adhered to by following all current procedures. Confirm hazmat shipping requirements with carrier dangerous goods help desk for all other hazardous materials.
YOU ARE
Known for your excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing with internal team and external customers.
Someone with strong organizational and time management skills. An ability to work well under pressure and strict timelines along with managing multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.
YOU HAVE
High school education or equivalent and minimum of three years shipping/receiving experience, preferably in a corporate setting.
Extensive knowledge of domestic and international UPS, DHL, FedEx and LTL trucking specifications, including processing of standard and batch shipments through carrier software programs; able to troubleshoot and update carrier software and hardware.
Thorough knowledge of PC and proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
A valid driver’s license and good driving record; must be auto insurable on our corporate auto policy and remain so at all times.
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds on a regular basis and operate a pallet jack and a motor vehicle.
Job Conditions:
Job may require work hours that exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 per week during peak periods. Exposure to fumes, dust, noise, and cold/hot weather due to the location of the position.
