What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Transportation Driver PRN position at 10010 Weatherford Rehabilitation Hospital, LLC?
The Transportation Driver is responsible for transporting patients and/or equipment to and from various outside appointments, clinics, nursing facilities, hospitals, or other ancillary locations via hospital-owned vehicle. This position must integrate company values into daily practice.
Essential Functions:
- Transports patients in a safe and professional manner
- Assures vehicles are clean and in working order. Responsible for cleaning of inside of van utilizing appropriate chemicals between patients.
- Communicates with various hospital staff in order to receive relevant data and instructions.
- Inspects vehicle prior to daily vehicle usage for safe and comfortable patient transport. Reports vehicle concerns timely.
- Assists with transferring and balancing patients. Ensures patients’ physical and overall comfort.
- Follows all patient safety and vehicle safety requirements. Responsible for knowing what PPE to apply to patient and driver prior to transport.
- Notifies proper staff regarding changes in condition or behavior of patient.
- May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies.
- Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff. Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions. Complies with appropriate and approved safety and Infection Prevention standards.
- Maintains regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization.
Minimum Job Requirements
Minimum Education & Experience:
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Basic Life Support card required.
- Six months van transport experience preferred.
Required Licenses, Certifications, and/or Documentation:
- Must maintain acceptable driving record, current class specific driver’s license, and insurability.
- Driving record must meet the standards of the Transportation Policy.

- Demonstrates proficiency using the machines, tools, equipment and/or work aids appropriate for the position.

Physical Requirements Over the Course of a Shift:
- A significant amount of sitting, driving, and reaching, often for prolonged periods of time.
- Both gross and precise motor functions.
- Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs.
- Possible exposure to bodily fluids.
- Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard.
- Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to hear overhead pages.
