The Opportunity Our location in Columbus, OH, currently has an opportunity for a Quality Project Leader, Packaging Supplier Quality. Primary Function: The Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) team ensures a high-quality supply of materials by evaluating and developing Abbott Nutrition suppliers globally. The Packaging SQA team specifically manages packaging suppliers through ongoing supplier management processes, supporting: Supplier qualification Supplier development & monitoring Supplier corrective & preventative actions Continuous improvement of department & supplier performance Additionally, Packaging SQA collaborates with plant quality assurance, operations, and purchasing groups to ensure: Proper incoming material Effective Corrective & Preventative Actions (CAPA) Testing and release of products Compliance with corporate requirements WHAT YOU’LL DO Responsibilities: Work closely with key suppliers to monitor and improve their quality performance. Manage supplier scorecards and key performance indicators, reviewing them weekly. Report action plans and next steps internally and with suppliers, holding them accountable and escalating risks to leadership. Lead investigations into quality challenges using root cause problem-solving techniques (5-Why, Fishbone, Statistical Review). Ensure suppliers have appropriate corrective actions and have implemented them correctly. Understand and ensure actions are taken based on suppliers' Control Plans and FMEAs. Lead or support site assessments or audits at supplier locations, identifying and addressing quality system gaps. Support continuous improvements with suppliers and communicate progress to internal leadership. Ensure appropriate sampling plans are in place and validated after corrective actions. Align with Abbott Manufacturing sites on supplier corrective actions and verifications. Lead investigations to resolve supplier processing or packaging issues promptly. Manage supplier CAPAs and improvement plans as required. Support the development and monitoring of supplier performance. Engage with supplier leadership to develop sustainable long-term improvements. Work closely with all levels of Abbott and supplier organizations, including senior leaders. Develop supplier systems and processes to improve performance and process capability. Support resolution and approval of exception reports within plants. Develop sampling and correction plans to resolve packaging quality issues. Report supplier performance internally and externally, interpreting scorecards and trending information. Conduct Gage R&R studies at qualification and through event management. Support supplier qualification assessments to ensure compliance with Abbott and regulatory requirements. Ensure supplier in-line equipment is properly validated. Maintain and evaluate suppliers' approved listings and status. Ensure proposed changes to supplier processes are approved and compliant. Required Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality, packaging engineering, supplier quality assurance programs, or related fields. Experience qualifying new products or packages and familiarity with Minitab, Control Plan/FMEA/Process Flow Charts, Statistical Process Control, and Quality Systems Auditing. Preferred: Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to build partnerships and improve supplier performance. Ability to manage multiple activities and projects, organize and prioritize work, meet deadlines, and prepare plans and reports. Ability to work independently and troubleshoot supplier issues. Ability to provide recommendations for supplier performance improvement. Experience in performing or leading supplier assessments and audits. Thorough knowledge of quality assurance principles and manufacturing processes. Technical understanding of various technologies, product quality systems, and supplier programs. Understanding of food packaging requirements and industry regulations. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all organizational levels internally and externally.
