About the Role :
The Regional Director of Operations is responsible for, but not limited to, the operational management and oversight of multiple Sound Physicians' hospitalist programs in an assigned region. The Regional Director of Operations will have a visible presence at several program locations and will focus on establishing professional relationships with the entire hospitalist team, hospital and system C-suite executives, case management, nursing, medical staff office, as well as community providers and specialty physicians.
The Regional Director of Operations manages a team of direct reports that support day to day operations of successful Hospitalist Programs within an assigned region. They report up to a Regional Vice President with accountability to the Regional Chief Medical Officer (s) as well. This role works in a heavily matrixed team, having a Regional Medical Director as a dyad partner, as well as working very closely with a Regional Manager, Clinical Performance.

In this role, you will be responsible for :
Supporting the Regional Manager, Clinical Performance and Clinical Performance Nurse(s) in their development and execution of clinical processesInitiating and leading content discussions and preparations for Joint Operations Committee, Quarterly Performance Reviews, and other hospital partner interactions, ensuring focus on integration of all Sound service lines in a "One Sound" manner. Reviewing content for final sign-off of all client-facing templates (scorecards, dashboards, action plans) developedMeeting regularly with each Chief Hospitalist and the Regional Manager, Clinical Performance to review site performance and identify opportunities and barriersProactively utilizing Sound and industry knowledge to lead discussions with hospital partners regarding short term and long-term strategic objectives, effectively communicating where Sound can provide a solution. Build strong relationships with the C-Suite at each hospital partner in assigned region, reporting on and checking in on performance on monthly basisFinal oversight for day-to-day site operations including matters related to payroll, credentialing, human resources, recruiting, etc. with assistance of direct reports and central office departmentsActively participating in Monthly Operating Reviews, proactively reviewing site financial statements for accuracy and trends to explain financial performance. Identifying and understanding the impact of variances and enact plans to address negative variances. Developing and managing annual budgets with responsibility for P&L performance for programs in assigned regionAppropriately gathering and processes of monthly patient level data files, troubleshooting as necessaryWorking in the pursuit of new business in the region. Coordinating individual efforts for new business with Business Development, RVP, and RCMO (s)Completing due diligence and site design for new hospital sites within region. Creating or reviewing proposals for new business and expansion of current business, including financial proformas. Understanding the financial and operational impacts of program changes as well as pricing, including supporting or leading contract negotiations and new site implementations in conjunction with main office departments and RVPLeading new site implementations in conjunction with main office departmentsHiring, training and developing a team comprised of Hospitalist Coordinators, Program Managers and / or Regional Managers for assigned regionManaging and tracking reconciliation dates, PQI submission dates, contract renewal timelines, and annual escalator anniversary dates in a timely mannerAppropriate escalation of issue / concerns to Regional Vice President of OperationsWhat we are looking for : A successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of a combination of these values, knowledge, and experience :

Minimum : Bachelor's Degree in business administration, healthcare administration or similar field; MBA, MHA, LEAN-Six Sigma certification, preferredProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of MS ProjectKnowledge of Process Improvement methodology; LEAN-Six Sigma for healthcare training is desirableKnowledge of relevant state and federal healthcare regulationsWorking knowledge of healthcare payment models, physician practice management, revenue cycle, payer contracting, managed care models, and Accountable Care Organization structureKnowledge of Hospital Medicine landscape and market forces driving the hospitalist model of careUnderstanding of hospitalist physician recruiting, marketing and compensation issuesExperience :
Minimum : 6-8 years' experience working with healthcare operational management, including financial statements and working knowledge of hospital and healthcare informatics, including quality measuresPreferred : 3-4 years' experience managing a physician group practiceExperience working in a matrixed environmentPay Range : $110,000-$135,000 annually. In addition, Regional Directors are eligible for a bonus opportunity. Exact pay will be determined based on candidate experience, geographical location, and size / complexity of the program(s) being supported.

Salary : $110,000 - $135,000
