We are looking for a Sr. Principle Automation Engineer to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role will report to the Director of Automation and Advanced Manufacturing and will be based in Fremont, CA. This is a fully on-site, in office role.
We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer to be the architect of a scalable IT/OT infrastructure based on the latest technology. In this role, you will work closely with cross functional teams across the company, defining and implementing a scalable architecture which can efficiently and effectively bridge the gaps between Machinery Control, Product Traceability, Enterprise Software, SCADA, and Data Visualization.
This role will contribute to the design, development, and delivery of proprietary equipment, software, and IT/OT infrastructure critical to our company's success. This role requires a proven track record in equipment design, automation, and integration within R&D and manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define scalable software and control architecture to support our manufacturing
- Write specifications for software, control, data acquisition, and all related processing and interfaces
- Define and collaborate to implementation of proper IT/OT infrastructure
- Support the MES, SCADA and other manufacturing supporting software deployments
- Design, development, and delivery of proprietary equipment,
- Support the installation, bring up and integration of equipment in the factory.
- Collaborate with remote engineering teams and suppliers.
Qualifications
- BSc or advanced degree in mechatronics, software and control or related engineering field.
- 10 years of experience in equipment design, automation, and integration for R&D and manufacturing.
- Proven experience in leading equipment development projects.
- Strong understanding of IT/OT networks, MES and Traceability, SCADA, integration into machinery.
- Experience with supplier management and remote team collaboration.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to travel up to 5-10%.
- Experience with AGVs/AMRs is a plus
- Experience in high-volume thin ceramics, solar, and battery manufacturing is a plus
