City/State Norfolk, VA Overview Work Shift Rotating (United States of America) Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a full time Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Specialist! Schedule: M-F, 8am-4:30pm, clinical specialist will staff approximately once every 5th weekend. Manages patient drug therapy in accordance with the medical staff approved clinical practice standards. Maintains current knowledge of drug use through continuing education. Serves as the primary resource for drug information within the hospital. Assures the appropriateness of all physician medication orders. Precepts pharmacy students as assigned. Three years of experience required. For candidates who do not have three years pharmacist experience, may substitute a PGY-1 residency program PLUS one year of experience or completion of a PGY-1 and PGY-2 residency program. (Each year of residency is equivalent to 2 years of experience). BLS required within six months of hire. Will consider pharmacists not licensed in Virginia due to relocation. Must have Virginia license within 90 days of Sentara start date. Highly Preferred: PGY-2 pharmacy residency training with a focus in oncology. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is a 525-bed, Level 1 Academic Trauma Center with a well-established Pharmacy PGY-1 Residency Program. This Clinical Specialist position will primarily care for our inpatient oncology patients, including medical, surgical, radiation and hematology oncology. Additionally, with our growing our bone marrow transplant population, this specialist will play a key role in expanding oncology pharmacy services. The role also involves high-level medication management within our infusion center. The selected candidate will join a collaborative team of six Clinical Specialists across various specialties.
