Job Description Summary The Patient Placement Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of all hospital admission and accommodation activities; Administers the policies and operational procedures necessary for the coordination of expeditious, safe admission of patients; Provides clinical expertise and technical assistance to the professional and clerical staff with regard to eligibility requirements and bed availability; Assumes technical responsibility for hospital transfers, admissions, and accommodations; Serves as a liaison between admitting, nursing staff, physicians, and transferring hospitals to ensure proper placement. Job Description POSITION SUMMARY: Is responsible for the coordination of all hospital admission and accommodation activities; Administers the policies and operational procedures necessary for the coordination of expeditious, safe admission of patients; Provides clinical expertise and technical assistance to the professional and clerical staff with regard to eligibility requirements and bed availability; Assumes technical responsibility fro hospital transfers, admissions, and accommodations; Serves as a liaison between admitting, nursing staff, physicians, and transferring hospitals to ensure proper placement. QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of a school of nursing with current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Alabama; At least five (5) years of clinical and/or supervisory experience. LANGUAGE/ COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read, write, and speak English; Must be able to communicate effectively to individuals of various cultural backgrounds, ethnicities, and educational levels. SKILLS: Successful course completion in Basic Cardiac Life Support; Annual completion of competency requirements; Must be able to work with other health care disciplines/departments effectively; Must be able to assess and prioritize needs of patients based on available resources; Experience in operating computers, Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field (preferred).
