Cashier

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and friendly Cashier to join our retail team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service while efficiently handling transactions. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. As a Cashier, you will play a vital role in ensuring customer satisfaction and maintaining the smooth operation of the checkout process.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service & Cashiering:

• Warmly greet every customer as they enter the store, creating a friendly and welcoming environment
• Accurately operate point-of-sale (POS) systems to complete purchases, process returns, and handle fuel transactions
• Handle multiple forms of payment including cash, credit/debit cards, fleet cards, and mobile pay, ensuring proper cash handling and register balancing at the end of shifts
• Provide assistance and product knowledge to customers with questions about merchandise, fuel pumps, or services offered on-site (e.g., showers, parking, food)
• Promote in-store specials, loyalty programs, or seasonal promotions as directed by management
• Diffuse and resolve customer complaints in a professional, respectful manner while escalating more complex issues to a supervisor

Stocking & Merchandising:

• Unload deliveries and check invoices to verify accurate shipment of items
• Restock shelves, coolers, freezers, and displays with merchandise, ensuring all products are front-faced, properly labeled, and priced
• Rotate stock following FIFO (first-in, first-out) guidelines to minimize product spoilage and waste
• Set up and maintain promotional displays according to planograms and seasonal guidelines
• Ensure back stock areas are organized, clean, and safe to access
• Conduct daily walk-throughs to identify low-stock items and alert management when restock is needed

Maintenance & Store Upkeep:

• Sweep, mop, and sanitize all floor surfaces regularly to ensure a safe and clean environment for customers and staff
• Monitor and restock supplies in restrooms, ensuring they are clean, sanitary, and fully operational at all times
• Clean and maintain self-service areas such as coffee stations, hot food warmers, fountain drink dispensers, and condiment counters throughout the shift
• Take out trash and replace liners both inside the store and at outdoor waste stations, including near fuel pumps and entrances
• Perform basic upkeep of exterior areas, including picking up litter, salting sidewalks during icy conditions, and ensuring safety cones or caution signs are in place when needed
• Report any maintenance issues, equipment malfunctions, or safety hazards to management promptly

Team Support & Miscellaneous Duties:

• Assist fellow team members during busy periods with tasks such as bagging, cleaning, or customer assistance
• Participate in opening or closing procedures, including cash reconciliation, store walkthroughs, and setting up or securing registers
• Follow company procedures regarding safety, loss prevention, and emergency protocols
• Attend training sessions and staff meetings to stay up to date with policies, promotions, and operational updates
• Take initiative to identify areas for improvement or ways to enhance the customer experience

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week

• Evening shift
• Morning shift
• Night shift
