About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled and strategic Senior Payroll Analyst to join our Payroll Operations team. This role is ideal for an experienced payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced, complex environment and demonstrates exceptional analytical, technical, and leadership skills. As a Senior Payroll Analyst, you will administer US and Canada payroll operations, drive process improvements, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of our payroll systems and processes while serving as a trusted partner to cross-functional teams.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and execute the semimonthly payroll processing for US and Canada, including payroll preparation, processing, and reporting.
- Administer time and absence processing and perform related analysis to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable labor laws.
- Analyze and resolve payroll discrepancies by reviewing payroll data, collaborating with team members, and ensuring timely corrections to prevent processing errors.
- Act as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries related to payroll and timekeeping, providing clear, accurate, and timely resolutions while delivering a high level of customer service.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations by maintaining accurate tax setups and payroll deductions, making system updates as necessary.
- Conduct regular reconciliations of payroll tax liabilities and proper allocation of contributions to retirement plans, benefit programs, and other statutory deductions.
- Develop, refine, and implement payroll procedures by creating detailed checklists, SOPs, and best practices to improve efficiency.
- Proactively assess and recommend process improvements and system enhancements, collaborating with cross-functional teams on its implementation.
- Lead quarter-end and year-end payroll activities, including ADP reconciliations, payroll adjustments, and employee tax document reviews.
- Partner with the Benefit teams to validate employee records and ensure accurate payroll deductions related to health benefits, retirement, and disability programs.
- Monitor and ensure payroll compliance for Expat employees, verifying taxation, reporting requirements, and accurate payroll processing for cross-border income sourcing.
- Reconcile payroll variances and collaborate with Finance and Accounting teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Assist with cross-functional projects, including Workday releases, system integrations, and audits.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- 5 years of payroll experience in a large and diverse multi-state, multi-entity payroll operation, with a strong understanding of HR and payroll-related processes.
- Bachelor's degree and/or CPP payroll certification is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency and recent experience with Workday payroll system and ADP Smart Compliance.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, provincial, and local payroll laws, including FLSA, wage and hour laws, and payroll tax regulations; familiarity with international payroll is a plus.
- Proficient in MS Office products with emphasis on MS Excel (e.g., pivot table, XLOOKUP, complex formulas, and data analytics).
- Proven ability to manage complex reconciliations, resolve discrepancies, and provide insights to enhance operational efficiency.
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to engage with cross-functional teams, vendors, and senior leadership.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and adept at managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
