Commissioning Engineer

Summary of the role:

The commissioning engineer will work closely with the self service implementation manager during self service project implementations.

On site commissioning of new self service hardware (bag drops and Kiosks)
Testing and validating new self service hardware (bag drops and Kiosks),
Configuring hardware
Executing and completing the commissioning document templates
Troubleshooting device, software and network issues as part of project implementation.

The Engineer will be expected to provide updates on status and escalate issues promptly.

In this role you'll:

• 75% of Travel to customer sites both in North America and Latin America regions
• To finalize onsite equipment readiness for customer testing
• Commissioning Engineer Follows a Commissioning Checklist
• Electrical – power up
• Electromechanical – conveyor operation, hybrid desk operation
• Networking – connectivity to devices and servers, validating firewall rules
• Component configuration & testing – computers, peripherals, updates since factory commissioning
• Software deployment – Pushing latest versions for the project
• BHS site integration (Electrical & Functional)
• Health check of complete system
• Providing feedback to engineering, manufacturing and support team

About the Ideal Candidate:

• Ability to travel 75% both domestic and international
• Able to pass airport security checks
• Degree in computer science, electrical engineering or computer engineering
• Experience working on Airports and/or Airlines Projects
• Experience in Airport Automation, Airport IT, Baggage Handling
• Experience with Self-service equipment deployment
• Some practical experience with Airport devices such as printers and scanners.
• Focuses on the best interest of the customer and Amadeus to create profitable, long term business partnerships.
• Bases operational decisions on customer and business needs.
• Able to develop basic standalone application/script in a high level language (e.g. C#, Python, JavaScript, PowerShell or similar)
• Able to read electrical/electronic schematics
• Basic understanding of computer networking desired (LAN level routing, TCP/UDP, basic firewalls)
• Experience with various self service products and/or hardware components
• Experience with Git or similar VCS not essential but welcomed
• Excellent collaboration skills to work across all teams, including Engineering
• Manufacturing, Support, Sales and Project Management
• Strong technical written and verbal communication skills
• Able to work independently or with minimal supervision
• Demonstrates strong initiative
• Able to think critically
• Pays attention to detail
