What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Teacher position at 10th Street Children's Academy?
The Early Childhood Teacher is responsible for implementing the High Scope Curriculum as developmentally appropriate including, but not limited to, weekly themes, weekly lesson plans, inclusion of theme-related material, and rotation of toys and equipment on a regular basis. The teacher will ensure the environment is safe, responsive, and stimulating by actively engaging oneself in daily activities and routines. (S)He will maintain professional and positive relationships with parents and families. The teacher will be responsible for assessing all areas of development of children using the High Scope Curriculum and COR Assessment. All teachers will develop and maintain portfolios for each child. The Academy will hold Parent/Teacher conferences twice per year, Teachers are responsible for conducting those conferences with the parent/families for each child in their group.
Responsible for supervision and direction of Full-Time Assistant Teacher, Part-Time Assistant Teacher(s), Part-Time Aide(s), and Volunteers. Maintain all certifications as required. Ensure compliance with all Illinois Department of Children and Family Services rules and regulations.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Strong classroom management and lesson planning skills
- Experience working with young children
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of child development and behavior management techniques
- Familiarity with curriculum development and early intervention strategies
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs
