What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Center Technician position at 11 11 Systems?
The Role:
11:11 Systems is looking for an experienced Data Center Technician to assist with data center operations across 11:11 System’s global cloud infrastructure. Candidates will need to have experience in installation and management of physical infrastructure hardware assets, with a focus on compute, storage, and network hardware, as well as experience with related peripherals. This is a full-time position located in Dallas, TX and reporting to our Sr. Director of Data Center Infrastructure.
What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate with multiple teams to provide on-site physical support for all implementation projects.
- Track and audit asset and component inventory at data center locations.
- Assist with all efforts requiring local presence within the data center including equipment racking, cabling, labeling, troubleshooting, and shipping of assets.
- Act as local point of contact for all vendor service activities.
- Collaborate on capacity management efforts for both infrastructure and facilities planning.
- Collaborate on infrastructure project planning and implementation processes.
- Act as a point of contact for other departments for datacenter issues and projects.
- Traveling between local data center locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
- Occasionally work non-standard hours to perform change management and emergency requests.
- Participate in on-call rotation to provide coverage as required.
- Occasionally travel to assist with large project builds, company initiatives, and company events.
- Work supportively with colleagues, operating in a manner that is consistent with 11:11’s Code of Business Ethics and Company Values.
- Responsibly receive, transmit, and handle company data and information per Company data handling agreements, work procedures and policies.
- Review and follow company policies and guidelines, data privacy practices, including annual compliance training certification and policy acknowledgements.
- All other duties assigned.
Who You are and What You’ll Bring:
The following skills represent the minimum requirements to be considered for this position:
- CompTIA A / Network , other applicable certifications, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience deploying IT infrastructure in enterprise-class or service-provider scale data center environments.
- 3 years of experience in technical data center operations, with strengths in hardware deployment, management, and troubleshooting.
- Detail oriented and highly organized with a passion for accuracy and quality.
- Excellent communicator, high energy, positive attitude, and aptitude for professional growth.
- Capable of handling multiple projects of various sizes and priorities.
- Strong critical thinking skills, able to determine solutions for complex hardware problems and other data center related challenges.
- Experience with Office 365 suite of products including Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point.
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.
Preferred Skills:
The following skills represent additional proficiencies preferred to be successful in this position:
- Above average technical knowledge of hardware, network hardware, and data center vendor processes.
- Experience working in large-scale multi-datacenter enterprise or service provider environments.
- Familiarity and experience with Cisco UCS, HPE, and other enterprise-class infrastructure hardware platforms and products.
- Previous experience using and/or administering Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) software such as Nlyte, Netbox, Sunbird Systems, Device 42, etc.
- An ability and initiative to learn and participate in a fast-paced environment.
