Position Overview
The Human Resources Director for the US manufacturing administers human resources programs and policies at the site level to reflect the organization’s global mission and values, support company goals, achieve objectives, and positively engage the workforce. The HR Director will be accountable for recruitment, employee relations, HRIS and related systems, payroll and benefits, and compliance with employment laws and regulations. The HR Director must maintain broad and current subject matter knowledge and expertise. The HR Director will be expected to foster a high-performance culture that supports our mission, and success is dependent on maintaining ongoing and effective collaboration with employees, managers, global HR and operations teams, third-party resources, and the site leadership team.

Key Responsibilities
- HR Operations: Provide tactical support for onboarding, offboarding, payroll and benefits administration, 401k compliance, leave administration, state registrations, personnel files and company documentation, audits, employment verifications, coordination of training activities, salary benchmarking, and job description draft and rewrites.
- Talent Acquisition & Management: Manage the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of top talent across a variety of functions. Adopt strategies to attract and retain highly skilled employees in the competitive biotech/biologics sector. Support the talent development programs, including training, coaching, and performance management.
- Employee Relations & Engagement: Cultivate a positive work environment that promotes employee engagement, teamwork, and collaboration. Act as a point of contact for employee relations issues, conflict resolution, and ensuring consistent application of policies. Act as a trusted advisor to site leadership on organizational and people-related matters. Advance initiatives to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workforce.
- HR Compliance & Policy Administration: Ensure the site complies with all federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as industry-specific regulatory requirements for biologics manufacturing. Implement and monitor HR policies, procedures, and programs, ensuring they are aligned with corporate standards while meeting local operational needs. Partner with EHS and Quality teams to ensure a safe working environment that meets industry standards.
- Change Management: Guide change management initiatives related to site expansions, organizational restructuring, or new systems implementations. Drive employee engagement during transitions by providing clear communication and support throughout changes.
- HR Metrics & Reporting: ReviewHR metrics (e.g., turnover, retention, employee satisfaction) and use data to guide decision-making and continuous improvement efforts. Report HR-related insights and recommendations to corporate HR.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: 5 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in an HR operations role within a manufacturing or biotech/biopharma environment. Experience in biologics or pharmaceutical manufacturing is strongly preferred. In-depth knowledge of HR best practices, labor laws, and regulations in a manufacturing context. PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification is a plus.
- Skills: Proven track record in employee relations, full-cycle recruiting, payroll and benefits administration, onboarding, HR regulatory and compliance, policy administration, and organization change management – with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Communication: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
