ROLE SUMMARY: The Cellar Manager is responsible for all Cellaring operations including: Cellar safety, product quality, equipment, scheduling, & managing Cellar personnel. This individual will act as a leader for the Brewery and a representative of Goose Island. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for advocating a strong safety culture in the Cellar. Partners with Safety Management team to ensure a “safety-first” culture. Promptly and thoroughly addresses safety concerns or issues from team members. Ensures Cellar team produces quality beer that adheres to Goose Island specs and standards. Holds cellar team accountable for proper CIP & sanitization practices and works together with the Quality Manager to solve quality issues. Manages day to day Cellaring operations: partners with Master Scheduler and Brewhouse Manager to adhere to production schedules, helps cellar team troubleshoot if issues arise, checks all units of measurements to ensure accuracy, ensures personnel adhere to all SOPs, LOTOs, & JHAs, and works with Maintenance to resolve equipment problems. Responsible for cellar personnel management: writes personnel schedules, responsible for candidate selection, conducts annual performance reviews and provides regular feedback to team members on job performance, manages routine calendar for team meetings, & seeks opportunities for continuous improvement for cellar team JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 5 years in brewing industry or relevant field High school diploma or equivalent required Undergraduate degree or certification in relevant field preferred Strong technical understanding of the brewing process and brewing quality control points Awareness of OSHA regulations, GMP, State Agricultural practices/policies, TTB regulations, and FDA regulations. Experience with O’Beer is a plus Proven management experience including team building, coaching and motivating, change and process management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Conducts work in a standing and sitting position primarily, however, job requires frequent standing, walking, stooping, bending, and light lifting.
