Responsibilities
- Ensure eligibility and provider updates are handled in a timely manner
- Assist with QNXT medical claims history research and scanned images
- Communicate with all levels of management, 1199SEIU staff and members, hospitals and providers regarding medical claims discrepancies
- Update and log weekly and monthly reports via Excel
- Work closely with supervisors and assist in training department staff
- Retrieve claims from mailroom; organize and maintain inventory drawers in date order
- Maintain production folders of processors and clerks to ensure claims are completed and processed in a timely manner
- Open, sort, and stamp incoming mail; perform Quality Assurance review of outgoing correspondence; collate outgoing mail and distribute faxes
- Assist with claim shipments to offsite office (Hicksville) and update claims processing dates
- Order inventory and distribute office supplies
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management
- Must meet performance standards including attendance and punctuality
- High School Diploma or GED required; some College or Degree preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years clerical experience in a general office environment required
- Basic keyboarding skills required
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word preferred
- Demonstrated organizational skills with ability to multi-task and follow up
- Ability to prioritize work with tight schedules and target dates; able to work well under pressure
- Available to work overtime including Saturdays when necessary
- Must be able to lift up to 30lbs
