A Brief Overview Under direct supervision, performs work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to perform procedures on patients undergoing cardiac diagnostic, Cardiac interventional or Electrophysiology procedures. Provides technical support in the diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular disease. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values. What you will do Under direct supervision, assists physician/surgeon during cardiovascular diagnostic, cardiovascular interventional or electrophysiology procedures. Must be available for on-call if required in designated area and respond within the designated time frame for emergency procedures. Performs a variety of testing to assist with diagnosis and treatment. Documents care delivered in the patient’s medical record in accordance with policy and procedure for the department. Provides day-to-day direction and guidance to cath lab technologists in assigned area. Responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, compliance activities, and policies and procedures. Provides support in the preparation, care, maintenance, and availability of cath lab or electrophysiology supplies and equipment. Education Qualifications Associate's Degree Respiratory Therapy Associate's Degree Cardiovascular Technology Associate's Degree Surgical Technology Please refer to additional job description Experience Qualifications 3-5 years Cath Lab Skills and Abilities Proficient in basic and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) or pediatric advanced life support (PALS) if working with children. Applies comprehensive technical knowledge and leadership in clinical practice; demonstrates competency in complex patient procedures that require additional skill and training. Demonstrates the ability to guide, teach, and mentor other techs and serve in a charge capacity. Knowledge of use and troubleshooting of complex technical equipment and instrumentation. Effectively communicates with co-workers, physicians and other members of the healthcare team. Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment. Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of workflow. Physical Demands Must be available for on-call and respond within the designated time frame for emergency procedures. The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination. The physical requirements of this position are: heavy work - exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently. Will be required to wear lead apron for extended periods of time. The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading. Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact. Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials. Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
