Shipping Clerk - 1st Shift - Starting at $21.50/hr

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Shipping Clerk to join our team. This role is responsible for coordinating shipping activities, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the safe and efficient movement of goods using a forklift. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a focus on safety, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Scheduled hours for this 1st shift position are 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday. The pay rate starts at $21.50/hr.

Job Responsibilities:

Shipping and Receiving

• Prepare and process shipping documents, labels, and records accurately.
• Receive and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and condition, reporting discrepancies as needed.
• Organize and stage outgoing shipments to ensure timely delivery.

Forklift Operation

• Safely operate forklifts to load, unload, and move materials within the warehouse or to/from shipping vehicles.
• Conduct daily inspections of forklifts and report any maintenance needs or safety concerns.
• Follow all company safety protocols and procedures while operating equipment.

Inventory Management

• Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with cycle counts or physical inventory.
• Ensure proper storage and organization of materials in designated areas.
• Collaborate with warehouse and production teams to manage stock levels.

General Warehouse Support

• Keep the shipping and receiving areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Assist in resolving shipping or inventory discrepancies.
• Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure smooth operations.

Safety

• Follow all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Report any safety hazards or incidents immediately to management.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

• Proven experience as a shipping clerk, warehouse associate, or similar role.
  
• Knowledge of shipping procedures, documentation, and inventory systems is a plus.
  
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with shipping software or inventory systems.
  
• Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience as a shipping clerk, warehouse associate, or similar role.
• Valid forklift operator certification or ability to obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment.

Work Environment:

• Warehouse or production facility setting.
• Must wear required PPE while in all warehouse and manufacturing areas.
• Moving parts and machinery are present in the plant.
• Noise levels will vary, higher noise levels exist while in the plant operations areas.

Physical demands:

• Frequent sitting, standing, or walking.
• Occasional ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to physically perform functions of repetitive motion, grasping, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, balancing, and climbing.
