Maintenance Technician I

Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician I will work under general supervision, performs a wide variety of skilled, journey-level duties in the installation, modification, design, maintenance, and repair of building and campus.
Accountabilities
- Performs painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.).
- Inspects buildings and other structures malfunctions and needed repair.
- Performs electrical maintenance to include, but not be limited to, replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, motion sensors, power windows, LED fixtures, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.
- Performs plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.)
- Reconfigures, installs, positions, and re-mounts modular offices and space (e.g. furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, etc.) to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand, power, specialty tools, dollies and hand trucks.
- Inspect and repair doors, door handles, hydraulic closers, weather stripping, window cranks and screens.
- Monitor and care for Infinity Tub.
- Maintains and completes documents in work order system.
- Care for and organizes tools, supplies, and storerooms. Other special projects and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Ability to read, writes, speaks and understands English.
- High school, Trade school or related experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be customer service oriented.
- Ability to prioritize jobs and requests given.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Ability to use common hand and power tools.
- Ability to learn new hand and power tools.
- Ability to understand and follow directions as given.
- Strong orientation to 1440's mission, vision and values.
- Work in an open office concept workspace.
- Ability to use Microsoft programs, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Action and results oriented and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
- Journeyman level understanding of:

- Vehicle repairs (gas and electric)

This role requires working with a team in an office/ campus environment and is not a remote role. Any need for occasional offsite work or business-related travel is at the discretion of senior management and therefore, must be approved prior to booking travel. All expenses or commitments of department funds for any reason, must be approved in advance by the Hospitality Committee or a senior department manager.
