Cafe Duties:
- Prepares the café daily with stocked menu items refreshing throughout the day to maintain the highest quality items.
- Ensures all inventories, checklists, pass-downs, and BEO's are updated and maintained.
- Maintains all front-of-house food and beverage areas throughout the campus with proper organization, product, inventories, quality, and cleanliness.
- Prepares and serves hot and cold food and beverages.
- Uses the point of sale (POS) and property management system (PMS).
- Being TIPS certified, follows the fiduciary responsibilities outlined in the 1440 Tipping policy.
- Maintains atmospheric ambiance in and around the café at all times, including checking music quality and volume as well as lighting and cleanliness.
- Able to retain menu knowledge and provide ingredient details/information to guests.
- Maintains a rotating schedule of cleanliness and sanitization in all public and back-of-house areas, including but not limited to offices, all door handles, elevators, meeting rooms, fitness center, and other high-touch point areas across campus.
- Cleans, sanitizes, and organizes all guest public spaces, including public bathrooms, classrooms, Café, and guest-facing areas.
- Maintains organization and cleanliness of back-of-house supply rooms and closets while ensuring supply and linen closets are fully stocked up to company standards
- Evaluates and maintains all rooms and supplies regularly and makes recommendations for additional supplies and equipment that would be beneficial to programs and our campus.
- Creates a delightful experience for guests before and during their stay through different areas of communication at all times.
- Recommends items that might appeal to guests while acting as a subject matter expert on menu items, retail items, and product features. Provides insights into solutions that will improve offerings and maximize sales.
- Gathers feedback, concerns, and helpful insights observed or reported while supporting faculty, guests, and programs.
- Efficiently and effectively resolves customer concerns while referring major guest concerns, questions, or unusual requests to the appropriate supervisor.
- Establishes excellent working relationships with other departments to deliver a safe, clean, and relaxing environment and guest experience.
- Establishes close connections and maintains deep hospitality with guests.
- Assists in proactively tracking supply inventory, including ordering replacements, obtaining supplies, and stocking all public areas.
- Assists in taking Food and Beverage orders, taking deliveries, and stocking products.
- Supports the Rooms division operations by performing front desk duties, offering the 3 stages of authentic service to our guests, assisting guests as needed during their stay on campus, and contributing to Housekeeping basic tasks as per operations needs.
- Provides on-site production support to guests and presenters and participates in the set up and breakdown of events spaces
- Aids reservations by ensuring a smooth operation of guest reservations.
- Assist in safety and security processes and protocols.
- Uses property management system accordingly.
- Works evenings and weekends.
- Supports servicing food and beverage to guests in all approved public eating areas on the 1440 campus
- Supports the Rooms division operations by performing front desk duties, offering the 3 stages of authentic service to our guests, assisting guests as needed during their stay on campus, and contributing to Housekeeping basic tasks as per operations needs.
- Aids reservations by ensuring a smooth operation of guest reservations.
- Assists in safety and security processes and protocols.
- Education:
- Required: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Preferred: One-year certificate from college or technical school.
- Experience:
- Required: Experience in a position that focuses on the Hospitality, Point of Sales, Service Industry, Non Profit, Health and Wellness, Accounting, Audio Video industry.
- Language Requirements:
- Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish and English.
- Language Skills: Must possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Writes routine reports and correspondence and speaks effectively before groups of guests or employees of the organization.
- Mathematical Skills: Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Reasoning Ability: Must possess the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions while dealing with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Business Acumen: Must understand the business implications of decisions; displays orientation to profitability; demonstrates knowledge of market and competition; aligns work with strategic goals; demonstrates understanding of current role and job responsibilities. Acts with accountability while committing to achieve 1440's financial goals and mission objectives.
- Computer Skills: Must have knowledge of Internet software, and Microsoft Suite of Products, Adobe Creative Cloud and type 50 WPM.
