Responsibilities:
Responsible for submission generation, underwriting and issuance of Miscellaneous Professional Liability (MPL) and Cyber Insurance (CI) policies for Western US Region (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Portland).
Maintain knowledge of all MPL coverage lines and policy triggers.
Develop underwriting documentation for all assigned policy accounts.
Monitor new business flows, quote and hit ratios from target agencies.
Provide monthly forecasts for new and renewal business, regular reconciliations to forecasts, explain variances, and develop correctional variance strategies as needed.
Present underwriting positions to business stakeholders and attend meetings with outside management.
Develop relationships with MPL brokers and agents.
Participate in quarterly meetings with target brokers and agents to report results, collect feedback and build support for underwriting strategies.
Represent the MPL business at agent offices and industry events.
Provide guidance to junior Cyber and MPL underwriters to foster professional growth.
Conduct underwriting reviews, develop clear rationales for underwriting approval or rejection, and give underwriting recommendations to account managers and junior underwriters.
Domestic business travel required 30% of the time within the Western US region (LA, SF, SEA, PHX, SLC, PDX).
Relocation to Western US region required pre-hire.
Telecommuting permitted up to five (5) days per week from within Western Region, as feasible.
Education & Experience:
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Accounting or related field (foreign equivalent degree acceptable).
Key Competencies & Skills:
Must have five (5) years of progressively responsible, post-baccalaureate Professional Liability or Cyber Insurance underwriting experience.
Must have five (5) years experience in/with: Cyber security and privacy liability controls to assess insurance risk factors; Cyber insurance policy loss evaluation and product design; analyzing and pricing insurance risk factors; providing underwriting recommendations; actuarial raters; and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint).
Must have two (2) years of prior experience in/with: SecurityScorecard to assess application security and underwriting risk; PowerBI for report generation, including loss run reports, production reports, goal tracking, and strategic targeting; Black Kite to assess and validate ransomware controls and underwriting risk.
Monthly domestic travel required within the Western US region (LA, SF, SEA, PHX, SLC, PDX).
Relocation to Western US region required pre-hire.
Telecommuting permitted up to five (5) days per week from within Western Region, as feasible.
Salary: $130,000 – $170,000/year, M-F, 40 hours/week.
