Position Summary:
This role involves supporting the management and development of Excess products for mid-sized corporations. The ideal candidate will use their knowledge of product management and the middle market insurance marketplace to assist in product strategy, ensure regulatory compliance, and support profitability. Key responsibilities include underwriting support, product development, and management, as well as portfolio analysis and relationship management. The role also involves assisting with training programs, developing underwriting guidelines, and collaborating with various departments to achieve business objectives.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Underwriting Support:
Assist in reviewing and underwriting risks within area of expertise.
Support the regions' underwriting staff with large/complex risk referrals.
Help identify and implement underwriting policy, procedural, and program changes.
Assist in creating underwriting guidelines, wordings, and training materials.
Support the implementation and maintenance of training programs.
Assist in determining Authority grants at various underwriting levels.
Product Development:
Gather information on competitive trends, product line trends, and external environment factors.
Assist in recommending new and revised products and programs, underwriting standards, and procedures.
Monitor product results and support the development of proposals to maximize profitability.
Product Management:
Support the management of the Excess book of business.
Assist in reviewing and analyzing overall business issues for products.
Help monitor underwriting quality.
Portfolio Analysis:
Assist in conducting qualitative analysis in cooperation with Field Underwriting Teams and other relevant departments.
Relationship Management:
Represent the company positively to the market.
Support the involvement of functional areas in the underwriting process.
Help develop and maintain strong relationships with key producers, clients, and other stakeholders.
Assist in developing service level initiatives for large accounts.
Additional Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Act as a technical resource for technology projects.
Participate in onboarding activities for new hires.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Minimum 10-15 years of Property & Casualty Insurance underwriting experience, with knowledge of insurance products
Ability to collaborate, influence and lead essential to success.
Strong problem-solving ability, in addition to creative and strategic thinking ability.
Extensive knowledge of insurance business, i.e. product, claims, legislative and regulatory affairs, etc.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required.
MBA preferred.
Insurance designations preferred (example, CLU, ChFC, FSCP, CPCU, ARM).

For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided. Range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.
$233,600 - $315,400/year
Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
