Job Description:
Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Communications Operations Manager (Contract) to join our Communications department based in Herndon, VA.
You will be responsible for managing departmental operations, coordinating cross-functional projects and ensuring alignment among internal and external stakeholders.

Our Communications team members provide effective communications to support a variety of Airbus programs through strategic internal, external, social media and crisis communications. Our team is fluent in all areas of digital communications, media and public relations.We leverage available channels and tools, as well as creating new ones. Your Challenges:
Primary Responsibilities:
Operations Management 30%
Oversee day-to-day operations of the communications department
Ensure projects are on track and deliverables meet quality standards
Optimize the department’s effectiveness and alignment with organizational goals and tools
Facilitate team meetings, develop agendas and track action items to ensure accountability and progress.
Identify and address process inefficiencies to improve productivity across the department.
Participate in development of regional team objectives setting, strategy/planning, Performance Management, organizational change and deployment, and Brand Amplification initiatives.
Performance Management 20%
Lead organizational Performance Management ways of working and promote data-driven culture.
Develop and oversee tracking systems for key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact of communications initiatives.
Prepare reports, presentations, and updates for executive leadership, summarizing progress, risks, and achievements.
Work with the Communications leadership teams to identify and establish their strategic objectives, targets and coherent sets of leading performance indicators (TFOs/FOs), and consolidate them into a coherent roadmap
Monitor operational risks while ensuring availability and maintenance of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) systems for AAm Comms
Stakeholder Management 20%
Serve as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders (External customers, TOP Airbus leaders), ensuring timely and effective communication.
Develop, create and implement a Partner Engagement Strategy/Plan that includes engagement strategies with key internal and external customers to identify needs, goals, planning and implementation of actions to ensure business needs are met.
Lead Comms PR Calendar and milestones governance
Community Impact Operations Management for U.S. 20%
Manage Community Impact program for the U.S., ensuring alignment with global strategy.
Generate campaigns to maintain Airbus’ active engagement in the Northern Virginia community, and support local activities at key Airbus sites. This includes: 1) creation of presentations and other graphic materials, 2) drafting and publishing of written Communications and 3) organization for employee community events.
Monitor news throughout the Americas to anticipate need for disaster relief matching campaigns
Conduct monthly analysis of digital employee donation platform ( impact) metrics, in terms of contributions, giving campaigns, volunteering events
Review sponsorship proposals, make recommendation on way forward
Attend regular meetings and calls with global, regional and local teams

Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business Administration, or a related field.
6 years of relevant experience in communications, public relations, or related fields
Advanced experience in performance management and data-driven ways of working, including dashboards, calendars, etc.
Advanced proficiency in performance management tools and platforms that track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact of communications initiatives.
Advanced proficiency in interpreting KPIs and impact of communications initiatives to prepare both quantitative and qualitative reporting and presentations.
Advanced proficiency project management tools, Google Suite and other digital productivity platforms.
Proven ability to manage complex projects, budgets, and cross-functional teams
Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to senior leadership.
Solid understanding of the aerospace/defense market and experience in a Fortune 500 environment are a plus.
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

Physical Requirements:
Onsite or remote: 60% ONSITE
Vision: Daily able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
Hearing: Daily able to hear and participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
Speaking: Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors):Daily able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
Carrying: occasionally able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
Lifting: occasionally able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
Pushing / Pulling: occasionally able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.
Squatting / Kneeling: occasionally able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
Standing: Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice for 20% of the working time.
Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.

This position is a temporary (contract) position with no specific time period but could be extended or shortened as needed. Contractors are employed by a 3rd party vendor and placed on assignment to Airbus in America.
