Job Description:
Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Design Engineer I to join our Engineering Team based in Wichita, KS.
You will be part of a team supporting new design and modifications of aircraft structures and/or systems and is responsible for the creation of quality solutions on time from a Design point of view. Duties include performing design efforts for both metallic and non-metallic parts along with system installations (electrical, hydraulic, fuel) while working in close collaboration with static stress and fatigue colleagues. Methods include the use of multiple applications to develop efficient solutions to satisfy design and/or system installation principles.

Located on the Wichita State University (WSU) innovation campus is Airbus’ first dedicated engineering facility outside of Europe. Our team of 200 support staff and engineers focus on aerostructure design including analysis of aircraft primary structures, such as wings and fuselages, for all major Airbus products across the globe.

Your Challenges:
Primary Responsibilities
Develop design solutions to a wide range of simple to routine technical problems. Review and interpret design data of aircraft structures and develop quality solutions.
Create or modify technical documents such as: Design Datasets, Product Structures, etc. within various Airbus computer based applications (SAP, CATIA, VPM,etc.) with high quality and efficiency
Collaborate with Static Stress, F&DT and other appropriate Airbus departments to come up with optimum solutions. Perform functional and technical tasks with guidance
Develop materials for team related briefings to internal and/or external customers.
Able to understand project planning requirements and implement activities to achieve customer requirements.
Effectively communicates issues, solutions, ideas, and status of current work to supervision.
Additional Responsibilities
Identify and support local improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through process, methods and tools improvements.
Your Boarding Pass:
Required:
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical) with a strong curriculum emphasis on structural design and analysis and mechanics of materials.
0 to 3 years total experience in design/analysis with airframe structures and/or system installation projects
5 % Domestic and International involved
Authorized to Work in the US
Understands basic technical principles, theories, and concepts applying textbook solutions to solve routine technical problems.
Capable of working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment both independently and collectively
Dependable, self-motivated and accessible
Able to prioritize concurrent assignments with guidance.
Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical procedures and bill of material systems.
Capable of creating and delivering technical documents and presentations with guidance
Strong computer background, including MS Excel and Google Suite application experience (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail)
3D Modeling Experience (CATIA or 3D experience preferred)
Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and disciplines.
Effectively communicates issues, solutions, ideas, and status of current work to the Lead
Preferred:
Minor in Computer Science
Internship in the aerospace engineering field with airframe experience
Software coding in C, C , Python, or other programming languages
Conversational French and/or German

Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. 20% Rarely
Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. 10% Rarely
Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. 10%
Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer. 90% Daily
Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. 10% Rarely
