Job Description:
Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a Tool Technology Development Engineer II to join our Final Assembly Line Engineering Department based in Mobile, AL.
Responsible for coordinating and supporting activities related to A220 Family aircraft assembly jigs, tools, and equipment at the Final Assembly Line (FAL).

Nearby on ‘Airbus Way’ you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. Jigs and Tools Technical Project leader including technical interface to supplier.
Jigs and Tools MFT creation.
Jigs and Tools Project suppliers technical down selection.
Jigs and Tools Project suppliers follow.
Jigs and Tools Design and Manufacturing Data Set: creation, acceptance and validation
Jigs and Tools Manufacturing Acceptance follow up (Plant/ FAL Quality Assurance for Jigs and Tools or representative is accountable for the Jigs and Tools Acceptance).
Jigs and Tools definition for Maintenance, Training, Recertification and re-calibration.
Jigs and Tools Handover to Operations.
Research, evaluate and specify machines and systems to fulfill customer requirements.
Your boarding pass:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required: Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in an Aerospace Final Assembly Line.
**Internal employees must have successfully completed all poly poly skills at a level 3 requirement with 25% of those being completed at a level 4 requirement.
Demonstrated experience managing technical projects.
Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical/pneumatic/hydraulic/electrical systems.
Strong technical capabilities (analysis of system/machine function, root cause analysis of equipment failures, experience with electric/pneumatic/hydraulic/PLC systems).
Data analysis and presentation skills – ability to technically explain tooling/equipment issues.
Strong organization skills – able to oversee many ongoing topics.
Capable of managing complex topics with many stakeholders. Strong communication and leadership skills to facilitate resolution of urgent maintenance topics.
Catia experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Onsite or remote: Upon Manager approval with max 2days.
Vision: Able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings
Hearing: Able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
Speaking: Able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): Able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
Carrying: Able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
Lifting: Able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
Pushing / Pulling: Able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
Sitting: Able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.
Squatting / Kneeling: Able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
Standing: Able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
Travel: Able to travel independently and at short notice.
Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): Able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site.
Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
