The Company:
Created in 1965, the 163rd Street Improvement Council, Inc. (or the Council, as we like to call it) involved itself in the fight against community deprivation of resources in the South Bronx. Determined to make a difference in the lives of the residents, the Council began to create affordable housing in the community.
Pioneers in the Bronx for housing and human service programs, we offer the special needs, homeless, and low-income populations an array of support services. We have become a source of Strength, Support, and Stability for those on the journey from homelessness to fully appropriate housing. Our approach is unique and innovative. We provide a continuum of care, including a range of transitional, congregate, and other residential programs.
The Role:
Under the direction of the Program Director, the Clinical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and leading the clinical functions of staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and culturally competent services to clients, and encouraging the professional development of clinical staff.
Specific Requirements:
This is a full-time shift position scheduled between the hours of 9am-5pm. Staff may be asked to adjust their work schedule depending on the operational needs of the site.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical supervision on a weekly basis to staff responsible for delivering services to individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders
- Assist Program Director with developing and implementing program policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance program effectiveness.
- Oversee day-to-day responsibilities of clinical staff.
- Assist Program Director with ensuring compliance with OMH regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Participate actively in all quality assurance and incident management activities
- Train, and supervise clinical staff, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Assist Program Director with the professional development of all agency staff members.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and relevant agencies.
- Represent the program at outside case conferences and clinical meeting.
- Ensure the implementation of recovery-oriented evidence-based practices and client-centered care that empower residents and supports achievement of their individual goals.
- Review treatment plans, progress notes, and all other clinical documentation to ensure appropriate care is provided to clients, adhere to quality OMH models and maximize utilization of services needed
- Conduct clinical team meetings to review client care, treatment plans, and provide in service trainings
- Provide direct services to clients.
- Assist residents acquiring and maintaining entitlements and benefits.
- Support residents in successfully living in the program, e.g., understanding their rights and responsibilities, community involvement, adhering to program rules, paying program fees on a timely basis, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree of Social Work required.
- LMSW Licensure required.
- Previous experience in behavioral health, human services, social services, non-profit management, or related field preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in mental health programs.
- Strong knowledge of OMH regulations, policies, and procedures.
- 2-3 years’ experience in a direct supervision role over others.
- 2-3 years’ experience with program management with a strong sense of planning, communication, evaluation, and change management.
- Strong verbal and written skills are mandatory; strong organizational skills, effective time management, attention to detail and ability to be self-motivated and disciplined.
- Experience in planning and facilitating projects including logistics, budgeting, interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills required.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends is required; must be available to assume “on-call” responsibilities on a rotating basis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Google Suite

Working Environment:
This position will be held in a professional office. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. This position is subject to travel.
