Junior Vet Academy is an immersive educational program designed for kids ages 6-15 who are passionate about animals and veterinary science. Our courses take place at the historic 1870 Farm in Chapel Hill, with overnight campers staying at the UNC-Chapel Hill Campus. As we enter our 8th year, we are looking for a dynamic and strategic leader to help us expand our program, develop new initiatives, and enhance our reach.
The Expansion & Program Development Manager will be responsible for identifying growth opportunities, developing new educational experiences, forming strategic partnerships, and increasing program enrollment. This role requires a visionary leader with a background in education, youth programs, business development, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have experience in program expansion, community outreach, and operational management.
Key responsibilities include developing and implementing strategies to expand Junior Vet Academy to new locations and audiences, identifying and establishing partnerships with schools, universities, veterinary organizations, and community groups, and creating and overseeing marketing efforts to increase enrollment and brand awareness. The manager will also evaluate current program offerings and recommend enhancements or new initiatives, oversee logistics and operations for new and existing programs to ensure smooth execution, secure funding through grants, sponsorships, and donor relationships to support growth, recruit, train, and manage staff to support expansion efforts, and represent Junior Vet Academy at industry conferences, community events, and networking functions.
Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in education, business development, nonprofit management, or a related field, along with proven experience in program expansion, business development, or educational leadership. A strong background in youth programs, summer camps, or educational initiatives is highly desirable. Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills are required, as well as the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders, sponsors, and partners. A passion for animal science, veterinary education, or hands-on learning experiences, along with knowledge of marketing strategies, enrollment growth tactics, and outreach techniques, will be beneficial. The ability to work independently and take initiative to drive expansion is essential.
Preferred qualifications include experience working with nonprofit organizations or educational institutions, familiarity with grant writing and fundraising efforts, and previous experience in the veterinary or agricultural fields.
