Position Summary:

The Shop Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily shop operations, including coordinating repair and fabrication tasks, managing work orders, and ensuring the completion of projects on time. They work closely with the QA/QC Manager to review repair plans and ensure compliance with standards before production begins. The Foreman assigns work to various shop employees, track project progress, and manages inventory. They are also responsible for conducting daily safety meetings, enforcing safety procedures, and ensuring employees are properly trained on equipment use. The Foreman is expected to lead by example, occasionally stepping into production tasks when needed, and ensuring that all work meets safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Work with QA/QC manager on reviewing repair plans for completeness, accuracy and conformance to standards before distributing to shop for production
  • Assign work orders to welders/fabricators, fitters, helpers and painters: manage and track so projects are completed on time
  • Monitor and manage steel and parts inventory
  • Coordinate in-house fabrication, maintenance or repair projects or tasks within or between departments
  • Conduct daily safety meeting in the morning before work starts
  • Ensure safety procedures are adhered
  • Ensure employees are properly trained to operate equipment
  • Manage preventative maintenance for equipment
  • Inspect work progress, equipment and tools to verify safety or to ensure that specifications are met; provide instruction to employees to prevent, detect and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedure and/or safety rules
  • Expected to function as a working leader and ability to help in production/fabrication when needed
Requirements:
  • Must have a “safety first” mentality
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to work long hours, weekends, and be on-call as needed
  • Must pass a drug/alcohol test and background check
  • Must be Legally authorized to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Knowledge of all types of metals and relevant welding/fabricating and cutting techniques using correct machinery, equipment and tools including CNC plasma
  • Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure
  • Ensure all shop employees know and follow all company safety policies, procedures and applicable laws
  • Ability to lead employees in order to motivate; foster open, honest and candid communication; and determine strengths and weaknesses
  • Excellent communication skills-reading/writing/verbal English for efficiency in communicating to employees work assignments, promote safe work practices, communicate with upper management and prepare and transmit consistent, accurate reports and time keeping
  • Use good judgment and decision-making skills to answer questions, address complaints and resolve problems
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks for extended periods
  • Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain
  • Physical tasks include lifting heavy objects, standing for long periods, and working at heights
  • The position may require travel to various field locations within Colorado, including remote areas
  • Must adhere to safety protocols and always wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to commute to Midland, TX

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary: $26-$30 per hour, depending on experience

Overtime: Eligible for overtime pay after 40 hours per week, as needed
