Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented MDS Coordinator to join our healthcare team. Duties
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients to determine their needs and eligibility for services.
- Prepare and submit Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments in accordance with federal and state regulations.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to gather necessary patient information.
- Ensure accurate coding using ICD-9 and other relevant coding systems.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of managed care practices, HEDIS measures, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Utilize electronic health record systems, such as Cerner, for documentation and data management.
- Provide training and support to staff regarding MDS processes and documentation requirements.
- Monitor compliance with health information management standards and participate in audits as necessary.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and health information management principles.
- Experience in primary care or pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with coding practices, including ICD-9, is essential.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with healthcare teams and patient interactions.
- Ability to analyze data for quality improvement purposes and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
