Job Title: Data Architect
Location: Temple, TX (3 days per week on-site)
Type of Hire: Full Time
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Designs end to end analytical workflows, including overall architecture, capabilities, platforms, tools and governing processes.
- Create, maintain, and communicate positioning/go-forward strategies for analytical capabilities/tools.
- Share governance responsibility to ensure alignment to enterprise guidelines for security, auditability, data governance, metadata management, etc.
- Help define/improve best practices, guidelines, and integration with other enterprise solutions.
- Review analytic solutions for re-usability, scalability, synergy opportunities and alignment to defined best practices and guidelines.
- Create and evolve analytic technology roadmap, to align with continuously evolving business needs.
- Monitor technology trends and perform discovery of any new tools/capabilities of interest.
- Benchmark analytic capabilities with industry analysts and other companies
- Maintains strategic technology relationships with technology vendors and external communities/partners.
- Leads education and training for analytics community.
- Provides leadership, strategic decision-making, and guidance within technical disciplines, responding to disruptive analytical technologies and solving unique and complex problems.
- Researches and defines Advanced Analytics & Business Intelligence capabilities and strategies for information delivery and data exploration to support business function needs and goals.
MINIMUM SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- 5-10 years’ experience in designing and developing complex, high-quality analytical solutions.
- 5 years in a Data Architecture role designing data and analytics solution architectures, detailed workflows, best practices, and governance guidelines and advising on necessary technologies.
- Experience designing and developing Enterprise data and analytical solutions including ETL (e.g., Talend, Datastage Informatica), DWH (Exadata, Teradata), Hadoop (Hive, Impala, Presto) and cloud data services. (e.g., Snowflake, Azure, Synapse)
- Knowledge of data modeling a plus (dimensional, snowflake, Data Vault)
- Ability to phase the delivery of analytical solutions such that it can meet immediate needs, while building towards the long-term strategic solution
- Understanding of holistic enterprise architecture and interplay of analytical components with enterprise foundational components (data architecture/governance, security, etc.)
- Strong communication skills with ability to communicate complex technical concepts.
- Skill in developing and exercising cross-functional influence, aligning business and technical teams around a common architecture vision.
- Ability to effortlessly switch gears from summary view for leadership to hands-on discussion with practitioners.
**Senior position for this team, so must have 5 years of experience and strong skills in SQL, Python, Spark, Azure (Fabric, Data Factory, Databricks)… not a Data Engineer role, this is an Architect-level role

- Ability to work with offshore and nearshore teams

8. Concepts like Lakehouse, Cloud Warehouse, Data Modeling techniques
- Star Schema or Snowflake Schema
9. Needs to be technical – not a project manager, scrum master role

Day to day:
· Building source to target mapping – a lot of source systems, understand those systems and tables and build a source to target to bring this into Azure
· Will build source target documents
· Will be doing data modeling in Fabric
o Sematic models – what they are building needs to be reusable
o Business processes that do EBS, financial purchasing, order management, Mainframe, JDE, Oracle
· Data engineer will use to build data pipelines after the documents are created
· Once it is complete, they will be the ones to test this – source to Fabric data has cemented and things are built correctly, and logic is correct
· Data architecture for data security
Most critical competencies:
1. 5 years in Data Architecture:
- Need to know how to design data and analytics solution
- Reporting RBI or Azure, Data lake, Synapse, Fabric
1. Data Modeling
What do we foresee the challenges being for someone in the role?
· A lot of legacy applications – Mainframe Applications, old JDE – not current tools in the market
What roles or industries are we targeting?
· Industry isn’t as important
· Lead Data Architect – fairly universal title
o Sr. / Principal Data Architect
**Don’t want somebody who has only been a consultant; need someone with fulltime corporate experience as well

2. Implementation experience and challenges they’ve faced
