JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: VP/Commercial Loan Officer Department: LPO

POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for developing new business, underwriting, structuring and the closing of commercial loans, as well as maintaining and servicing an existing portfolio. Develops and establishes loan accounts. Supervises assigned lending account activities and periodically reviews loan documents for adherence to lending limits, documentation requirements and compliance with regulations. Adheres to Core Values and promotes Value Driven Culture at all times. Performs duties in compliance with regulatory requirements including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act.
Requirements:ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Interviews loan applicants, collects and analyzes financial and related data to determine the general creditworthiness of the prospect and the merits of the specific loan request.
- Establishes and negotiates the terms under which the credit will be extended, including the costs, repayment method and timing, and impose any collateral requirements.
- Approves loans up to assigned lending limit and serve as the contact officer for loans over this limit and any problem loans requiring special attention.
- Collects and analyzes information, which reflects the current creditworthiness of customers, and the current merits of existing loans. Updated credit file information may be obtained by direct inspection of the applicant’s business and/or collateral, review of interim financial reports, or by the personal interview.
- Monitors loan payment activities and takes necessary actions to effect collections.
- Advises and assists customers on business management and financial matters.
- Promotes and develops new business and cross sell Bank products.
- Develops materials for and makes loan presentations to the Loan Committee and the Board of Directors.
- Counsels and assists in the training and development of Junior Loan Officers and Loan Department personnel.
- Ensures the protection of the Bank’s interests in matters of adequate documentation and adherence to Bank policies, law, rules, regulations and ensures the exercise of sound credit decisions in the commercial and consumer credit areas.
- Keeps abreast of new developments in the lending field and government regulations and communicating with staff on these matters.
- Adheres to Core Values and promotes Value Driven Culture at all times.
- Responsible for complying with the Bank Secrecy Act policies and procedures, including attendance at annual training, as directed by the Bank Secrecy Act Officer.

Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree required. A combination of education and work experience maybe substituted for a college degree.
Experience Required: Three to five years’ banking/finance experience in the loan department preferred.
Required Knowledge: Knowledge of consumer and commercial lending.
Skills/Abilities: Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills are necessary. Strong organizational and mathematical skills are required.
