What are the responsibilities and job description for the Universal Banker position at 1st Colonial Community Bank?
The Universal Banker is a critical position within the branch and an important member of the branch team. The Universal Banker reports to the Branch Manager and is the initial contact for customers. The Universal Banker is to be the single point of contact for walk-in customers, fulfilling sales, service and referral needs for a seamless customer experience. The Universal Banker also provides services to customers in a timely and professional manner, to expand the customer base through consultative sales techniques, and to perform all the tasks associated with the direct handling of funds received or paid to customers in their day-to-day banking transactions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform transactions such as accepting deposits and loan payments, verifying cash and endorsements, cashing checks within limits and obtaining further authorization when necessary, issuing cashier’s checks and redeeming savings bonds
- Perform more complex transactions such as: large commercial deposits, ATM servicing, vault/cash ordering, teller cash recycler, close out transactions, loan exception clearing.
- Provide professional client service, which includes, but is not limited to: performing accurate transactions, welcome the client, smiling, using the client’s name during the transaction, and thanking each client for his or her business
- Handle proportionate volume of work based on branch demands.
- Adhere to internal controls, operational procedures as outlined in Branch Operations Manual (BOM), and risk management policies. Stay abreast of all changes in policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current guidelines.
- Support team sales process by making client calls, checking for client offers, and identifying client needs or opportunities fulfilling the need or referring the client to the appropriate branch team members or specialist.
- Utilize 1st Colonial Community Bank-supported service processes to ensure high-level of client service by performing basic client service maintenance (e.g., account reconciliation, address changes, stop payments, transfer, processing check orders).

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of banking products
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a polite personality
- Ability to ask questions and learn about customer’s financial needs and when the customer see’s the value, introducing them to other bank team members
- Ability to work independently and generate self-sourced personal and business leads
- Able to effectively network and communicate with local business leaders
- Excellent punctuality and great work ethic
- Ability to focus on customer needs promptly in a courteous and professional manner
- Knowledge of general bank products and services
- Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task
- Must have sound numerical proficiency
- Must be computer literate with basic data entry skills and knowledge of standard office equipment
JOB TYPE: Full-time
EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma required, post high school education preferred or equivalent experience and related training
- Two years of teller and retail experience
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent business experience

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands, use fingers, talk, hear and remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms. The employee must have the ability to verbally effectively communicate with staff and customers. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must have the ability to stay alert and attentive at all times and operate a computer, phone and essential equipment as required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
