What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fraud Specialist position at 1st Community Federal Credit Union?
Under general supervision, and in accordance with established policies and procedures, processes debit card transactions that are identified as fraudulent by the member. The objective is to reduce losses for the member and the Credit Union.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews daily work queues and General Ledgers (GL) for Debit Card claim disputes.
- Transfers debit card representments and chargeback transactions to the debit card claims receivable GL daily.
- Posts provisional credits to member accounts. Investigates Debit Card/Credit Card fraud claims that qualify for chargeback rights. Review documents provided by third party claim processor.
- Posts transactions that do not qualify for chargeback rights to write off expense GL. Reconciles GLs associated with fraud claims.
- Maintains excel spreadsheet showing the current status of all fraud claims during the charge off/representment process.
- Maintains excel spreadsheet daily for management showing the transactions that qualify for chargebacks, the transactions that have been written off, and the transactions that are under the $35 limit.
- Reverses provisional credits to member accounts based on results of credit union investigation.
- Backup for Verafin application and backup for dormant/inactive account research.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining fraud packets.
- Familiarity with rules and regulations concerning consumer fraud, BSA, AML, and OFAC. Works closely with compliance officer.
- Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and credit union policies and procedures.
- Follows the expectations set in the Member Service Values.
- Represents the Credit Union in a professional manner and cross sells services when possible.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Credit union or bank teller experience helpful.
