Job Title: Fire Extinguisher Shop Technician

Reports To: Shop Manager
Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Fire Extinguisher Shop Technician to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to inspect, service, and recharge portable fire extinguishers in our workshop according to NFPA standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Inspect incoming fire extinguishers for damage, corrosion, and proper operation.
* Perform hydrostatic testing as required.
* Disassemble, clean, and reassemble fire extinguishers.
* Recharge fire extinguishers with the correct type and amount of extinguishing agent.
* Replace worn or damaged parts, such as hoses, nozzles, and valves.
* Accurately complete service tags and maintain detailed records of all work performed.
* Maintain a clean and organized work area.
* Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures.
* Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies.
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools.
* Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Previous experience servicing fire extinguishers.
* State fire extinguisher technician certification.
* Knowledge of NFPA 10 standards.
Physical Demands:
* Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
* Frequently required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
* Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
* The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
