What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Specialist position at 1st National Bank Of Waterloo?
Summary: Responsible for a wide variety of accounting functions in support of our Banking Centers, including Accounts Payable and Fixed Asset accounting, as well regulatory reporting.
Primary Accountabilities:
- Processes all invoices, payment requests and expense reimbursements for payment, which includes reviewing for accuracy, proper approvals and other supporting documentation.
- Reconcile accounts payable in the system to ensure all payments are accounted for and properly posted.
- Maintains all accounts payable and vendor files (manual and in the system).
- Understands compliance issues around accounts payable process (W-9, sales tax, etc.) and participates in the annual 1099 issuance process (both 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC).
- Responsible for preparation and filing of the Weekly Report of Selected Assets and Liabilities (FR2644) to the Federal Reserve.
- Responsible for various daily and monthly reconciliations and reports, including but not limited to all external Cash accounts, Fixed Assets, BOLI and prepaid expenses.
- Assist in all financial audits, including those performed annually by our independent auditors.
- Back up other Accounting Officer in their absence on various duties, specifically Fed Funds investing/borrowing.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Education/Experience:
- Candidate must have at least three years of relatable experience, with Bank experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting preferred, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Strong attention to detail and work ethic.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills are required.
- Ability to effectively plan and manage multiple projects.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate with employees at all levels within the company while maintaining strict confidentiality
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
